Kill Team Shadowhunt Murderwing Rules: Screaming From the Skies

Most Kill Teams stay quiet because survival matters. However, the Murderwing never got that memo.

They scream, rev chainswords, and launch themselves through the air on jump packs like it is a hobby. From the start, Shadowhunt frames them as the exact opposite of stealth focused operatives. Instead, they lean fully into fear, speed, and chaotic pressure. And honestly, it feels perfectly on brand for Night Lords.

Boost Is the Whole Game Plan

Everything the Murderwing do revolves around Boost. During Charge, Fall Back, or Reposition actions, they can Boost through straight line movement segments. As long as they are not under Vantage terrain, they effectively leap over terrain and operatives. Instead of moving normally, they are picked up and set back down within a chosen horizontal distance. However, that distance still counts against their move allowance, so positioning matters.

While Boosting, they create a Boost Zone, and that space becomes dangerous. Any enemy inside it, and not under Vantage terrain, is suddenly at risk. So the Murderwing turn movement itself into a threat, not just a way to reach objectives.

Bladefins, Dirty Tricks, and Curseclaw Chaos

With the Bladefins equipment, Murderwing unlock Slice From Above. After Boosting during a Fall Back or Reposition, they can deal D3+1 damage to an enemy in their Boost Zone. It is chip damage that feels unfair, which is exactly the point. There are limits to stacking it with other actions, yet the pressure adds up fast.

Outside commentary highlights that this team lurks, stuns, and softens targets before killing them later. You take a mandatory Chaos Lord beatstick, plus five Raptors chosen from a deep roster. They lack raw durability, yet ploys like Malicious Narcissism help punish teams that rely on activation advantage. Terrain also changes the matchup, since Volkus favors ambush angles, while Tomb World leaves fewer places to hide.

The Curseclaw stands out as peak Chaos nonsense. He can grab and reposition enemies mid game, setting up brutal plays. And yes, dragging someone into an orbital strike is absolutely intended.

Summary

The Murderwing are fast, cruel, and rule heavy in a good way. Their Boost mechanics reward planning, aggression, and terrain awareness. While they are not the toughest Marines around, they win through pressure and movement tricks. If you enjoy high skill chaos with a sense of humor, this team delivers. And with more Shadowhunt reveals coming, including the Nightbringer next, the hype is not slowing down.
