The Bonereapers are clearly done playing nice after the Hour of Ruin. So, the Mortisans have been in the workshop cranking out new horrors to help stem the Skaventide.
Also, Nagash getting embarrassed by the Great Horned Rat’s lot twice is a big deal. Therefore, this whole reveal reads like the Ossiarchs finally decided to bring a bigger toolbox. And honestly, it sounds like they are bringing the whole shed.
New Kits Bring Speed, Control, and Some Real Threat Projection
The headline flex is the Liege-Kavalos on War Chariot, which is both a battlefield blender and a mobile command platform. It is built from Liege-Kavaloi who originally thought chariots were beneath them, which is very on brand. However, once you can race around dodging trouble and calling coordinated charges, you start looking smart fast. It feels like an aggressive commander piece that plays the board, not just the damage math.
The same kit can also build a Kavalos War Chariot, drawn by steed constructs that do not panic, do not hesitate, and do not care. Because they are purpose built, they can pull off maneuvers living horses would never attempt. Also, they were designed to match Lumineth speed, so the idea of Teclis’ crew trying to outrun bone cavalry is a nasty little image.
Liege Morteks, Triaxes, and Reapers Add Layers to the Army’s Game Plan
Liege-Morteks step in as proper battlefield lieutenants under the Liege-Kavaloi. They handle the immediate tactical layer, while the big bosses run the wider war effort. Since Skaven pressure can stretch any normal army thin, the Ossiarch answer is simply making more commanders as needed.
Each one comes loaded with centuries of martial knowledge, plus avian construct familiars to relay the battlefield flow. You get spear, sword, or axe options, and also three head choices, which screams “build a staff corps.”
Mortek Triaxes are the big ranged glow up. Katakros finally listened to people begging for archers, and then he acted like a nightmare manager. He rejected the first prototype and demanded a more cruel, efficient redesign. Now you get these eerie multi eyed shooters with osseous bows, including a special third eye that reads spiritual auras. So, they can basically pre aim on targets before they even commit, which feels like lore flavored unfairness. They also drag along Balefire Braziers, which are three legged walking cauldrons for lighting arrows with soul essence. So, the enemy is not just getting shot, they are getting existentially bullied.
Mortis Reapers round out the new doctrine as stealth assassins. They are the “knife in the dark” answer to Skaven leaders who hide and multiply. They carry necrocaches filled with grave sand that desiccates flesh on contact, leaving clean skeletons behind. Conveniently, that is also a downpayment on the bone tithe. Even scarier, they share orders through a unified mind, so they move with synchronized precision that unsettles other Ossiarchs too.
New Battletome Systems, Plus Boxes for Spearhead and Army Builds
Everything new gets rules in Battletome: Ossiarch Bonereapers, and the big mechanical change is a reworked Relentless Discipline. Your heroes now generate a pool of points you spend on abilities, and some abilities get stronger if you spend more. Katakros generates 10 points, while a Liege-Mortek generates 5, which tells you immediately who is fueling the engine. The book also brings two Armies of Renown, including the cavalry and chariot themed Lance of Ossia, plus two Regiments of Renown, a new Spearhead, and Path to Glory rules. There is even an Anvil of Apotheosis so you can build your own Mortisan style overseer, which is perfect for campaign weirdos. On top of that, there will be a gamer’s edition, warscroll cards, and dice.
On the product side, there is a Battleforce called Null Myriad Phalanx led by Arkhan the Black. He comes with a Mortisan Soulmason, four Morghast Archai that can alternatively be built as Harbingers, and 20 Mortek Guard. It is a clean starter for a tithe collecting brick.
There is also Spearhead: Kavalos Vanguard, built around a Liege-Kavalos and two units of five Kavalos Deathriders as the punch, while a Teratic Cohort grabs objectives and funnels enemies into the cavalry hit.
Finally, one Regiment of Renown will be on shelves right away, Heralds of the Bone-tithe, led by Vokmortian with three Immortis Guard and 10 Mortek Guard. It is basically an official enforcement squad for collecting what Nagash is owed.
Summary
This reveal is the Bonereapers answering the Skaventide with more speed, more command structure, and more ways to kill from weird angles, including a Liege-Kavalos on War Chariot that doubles as a mobile charge director, plus a build option for a Kavalos War Chariot pulled by fearless steed constructs made to keep pace with fast foes. It also expands the roster’s “tools not just stats” feel, since Liege-Morteks act as battlefield lieutenants with familiar messengers and flexible weapon options, while Mortek Triaxes finally give the faction a proper ranged cohort with aura reading third eyes and Balefire Braziers to turn volleys into soul scorching panic.
Meanwhile, Mortis Reapers bring stealth leadership sniping with necrocaches that strip flesh to skeletons, and they operate with synchronized hive mind precision that feels properly unnatural. The new battletome ties it together with a redesigned Relentless Discipline points pool generated by heroes, plus Armies and Regiments of Renown, a new Spearhead, and Path to Glory support including Anvil of Apotheosis, while the launch lineup also includes the Null Myriad Phalanx battleforce under Arkhan, the Kavalos Vanguard spearhead for fast pressure, and Heralds of the Bone-tithe led by Vokmortian to enforce the tithe in style.
