A Slaughter That Shakes Hammerhal
The story begins with a brutal shock. A Freeguild marshal and their entire army are suddenly slaughtered. Because of this, a terrible threat looms over Hammerhal’s battlements. Tahlia Vedra is forced to leave her familiar Aqshy behind. Instead, she crosses the realmgate into Hammerhal Ghyra, the verdant half of the city.
In Hammerhal Ghyra, Tahlia uncovers dark schemes forged by the Helsmiths of Hashut. The spiteful Zharrdron are dangerous foes in their own right. However, they are not her only problem. The Life Realm side of the city is filled with unfamiliar factions eager to exploit her arrival.
Although Tahlia is legendary, she is nearly a stranger in her own city. Therefore, uniting her people becomes a battle itself. Time is also against her. The Helsmiths wield a power that could doom Hammerhal and everyone within its walls.
Catching Up With Tahlia Vedra
Readers can revisit Tahlia’s rise in Lioness of the Parch, also written by Evan Dicken. That novel explores her past, a Chaos invasion, and the ruthless politics of Sigmar’s empire. As a result, it serves as the ideal lead in to First Marshal. Together, the two books chart her growth from commander to legend.
First Marshal releases next year from Black Library. Warhammer Community will share more previews and an author interview closer to launch. There will also be more focus on Tahlia’s fearsome manticore, Infernadine.
