Gotrek Gurnisson is one of those Warhammer characters who just refuses to quit. He fought his way through the World That Was, shrugged off apocalypses, and still turned up swinging in the Mortal Realms.
Alongside poor long suffering Felix Jaeger, he has hacked through monsters, Chaos hordes, and anything unlucky enough to catch his eye. Now Black Library is celebrating that absurdly long and bloody career in proper style. This new limited edition of Trollslayer feels like a love letter to every fan who ever wanted to drink in a Bugman’s tavern and listen to their tales.
A Classic Slayer Tale, Dressed Up For The Ancestors
At the heart of the set is Trollslayer itself, the first full Gotrek and Felix novel by William King. It is presented as a hardback with a fabric cover, stylised artwork, and copper foil details that make it look like something nicked from a noble’s library. Additionally, the page edges are printed and there is a neat brown ribbon bookmark, which definitely feels like a Felix touch. In true Gotrek fashion, you also get an axe shaped bookmark that matches the cover art, which is exactly the kind of over the top detail a Slayer deserves. It is the classic story, just wrapped in a format that feels worthy of its status.
Coins, Prints, And Trouble Across The Old World
The box does not stop at a pretty book. You also get two metal coins, one round like the currency of the Empire and one decagon like the coins from the Dwarf holds. Additionally, there is a set of three art prints, all packed in a matching sleeve.
One shows Gotrek and Felix sharing a few pints, which fits their whole vibe perfectly. Another is a map of the Old World, great for pointing at and saying “we nearly died there”. The last is a wanted poster that confirms the duo are wanted dead rather than alive, which is honestly the only way it could be.
Beer Mats From The World That Was
The most charming extra might actually be the set of four beer mat style coasters. Each has a unique design and a non slip backing, so they are not just pretty but practical. Two represent specific beers from the World That Was, Trollbrew and Tar Drop, which sound exactly like the kind of drinks Gotrek would swill between fights. Additionally, the other two coasters show places you might find those ales, namely The Sleeping Dragon pub and the Brodag brewing festival. Everything comes in a tidy display box, although the writers jokingly admit the coasters will probably live on actual tables under actual drinks instead of staying packed away.
Final Thoughts – A Slayer Worthy Celebration
Overall, this limited edition Trollslayer set feels like a properly indulgent celebration of Gotrek and Felix. You get a beautiful version of the novel that started it all, thematic coins and prints, and hobby friendly coasters that make your gaming table feel a bit more Old World. Additionally, it is a limited run that will only be available while stocks last, with pre orders coming soon in an upcoming Sunday Preview. If you have ever cheered for that one eyed Slayer or sighed along with Felix’s narration, this is a very easy box to justify. Just do not wait too long, because Gotrek is not the only one who refuses to die quietly.
