GW just dropped a banger of a preview slate. Moreover, it hits Heresy players, Middle-earth fans, and fiction junkies all at once.
The headline is a legendary tank made plastic and mean. Additionally, there are fresh kits, campaign books, and meaty starter forces. Consequently, your backlog is about to file a formal complaint.
The Fellblade Goes Plastic and Stays Terrifying
The Fellblade finally rolls into the current edition in a full plastic kit. Moreover, it keeps that hulking silhouette and the infamous double-barrelled accelerator cannon. The hull still mounts a demolisher cannon, and the body bristles with defensive guns. Additionally, sponsons can be built as paired laser destroyers, gravis heavy bolters, or lascannon arrays. The hull twin heavy bolters can become a twin heavy flamer, which is perfect for bunker busting. You can also pick a pintle option, including havoc launcher, heavy flamer, heavy bolter, or multi-melta. Consequently, you can tune this beast from spearhead killer to objective blender without breaking the vibe.
Old-School Jump Troops Land in Mk II Style
Assault Marines get a retro glow-up with Mk II Crusade-pattern armor and turbine jump packs. They field as a standard Assault Squad in Horus Heresy, yet they also style out perfectly as Veteran Assaults. The box builds ten multi-part Marines with a generous loadout. Additionally, you choose bolt pistols or combat shields for left hands, and you get two power mauls and two heavy chainaxes. The sprues include two sets of melta bombs, two disintegrator pistols, plus grenades and pouches. Therefore, you can mix period-authentic brutalism with bespoke sergeant swagger.
Journal Tactica: The Forges of Saturn Cracks Open
Saturnine tech finally gets spotlight time in a 48-page supplement. It details the early Great Crusade use of Saturnine Terminator armor and Dreadnought innovation. Additionally, it tracks Vulkan’s later efforts to refine those designs and how all seventeen other Legions reacted. The book adds three new units that put Centurions and Command Squads into Saturnine suits. Word Bearers also receive a unique daemon-infused Terminator option, which is spicy. Thousand Sons gain a new Prosperine arcana for more psychic trickery. Finally, there is a Legendary Mission for the Salamanders at the Dropsite Massacre and three asymmetric Onslaught Missions focused on breaking defensive lines.
Three Combat Forces to Kickstart Entire Heresy Armies
Legiones Astartes Combat Force
The Astartes box anchors itself with a ranged Leviathan Dreadnought. You can mount any two of cyclonic melta lance, grav flux bombard, or storm cannon. Additionally, a Rhino covers transport duty for your Troops. You also get twenty Mk VI Marines and a heavy weapons frame with ten missile launchers and ten heavy bolters. Consequently, you can build a Tactical Squad or pivot into a Heavy Support Squad. Decal support is generous for both infantry and vehicles, so your fresh paint has the proper sigils.
Mechanicum Combat Force
The Mechanicum set leans into cybernetics and plasma doom. Six Thallax Cohort troopers rock lightning guns, while two can swap to phased plasma-fusils, photon thrusters, or multi-meltas. Additionally, you get two Castellax with shock chargers or power blades and shoulder weapons. The box includes two mauler bolt cannons, one darkfire cannon, and one multi-melta for the pair. A towering Thanatar Cavas seals it with a Hellex-pattern plasma mortar for walking artillery mayhem. Transfer sheets are plentiful, so you can badge every plate and servo.
Solar Auxilia Combat Force
The Auxilia kit fields a full twenty-strong Lasrifle Section and a five-model Command choice. Furthermore, that command can build as a Line Command or as a Legatine Marshal with four Lifewards. Two Hermes Sentinels offer Light or Veletaris builds, with multi-laser or grenade launcher for Light and heavy flamer or volkite caliver for Veletaris. A Solar Auxilia Leman Russ brings a deep turret menu. You can pick a battlecannon, twinned heavy lascannons or autocannons, or a long-barrel Vanquisher with co-axial autocannon. Hull options are five strong, letting you tailor it to your local meta. Transfer sheets for infantry and vehicles round it out.
Middle-earth Marches with The War of the Rohirrim
A softback supplement arrives for the new edition of the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. It packages eleven linked scenarios that recreate key beats from the movie. You play as Helm Hammerhand and Rohan or as Lord Wulf on his grim quest. Additionally, the book features alternative Rohan paint schemes and step-by-step guides for Wulf’s Hill Tribesmen.
You will need the core rules and Armies of The Lord of the Rings to use it. Meanwhile, Helm himself rides in as a plastic Hero of Legend. The kit includes foot and mounted versions, backed by Fight 6 and Strength 5 credentials.
Fréaláf Hildeson, Olwyn, and Lief join as a six-model pack, with foot and mounted sculpts for each hero. Finally, Rohirrim dice arrive in pearl green while Hill Tribesmen dice bring a worn bone finish.
