The new edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy has been lighting up tabletops across the world.
Players are throwing Legiones Astartes, Solar Auxilia, and Mechanicum armies at each other with everything from bolters to plasma mortars. If you are looking to dive in, or expand your current collection, the new Combat Force boxes are the perfect starting point. Each box is carefully designed to give you a balanced, ready-to-play force without the headache of picking individual kits. Whether you’re a loyalist purist or a traitor at heart, these kits provide flexibility, firepower, and plenty of options for personalization.
Legiones Astartes Combat Force
If you are all about Space Marines, the Legiones Astartes Combat Force hits the sweet spot between infantry and mechanized support. The box includes 20 Legionaries in MkVI power armour. You can kit out all of them as Tactical Legionaries with bolters, or upgrade ten of them into a Heavy Support Squad with missile launchers or heavy bolters. Two Tactical Marine accessory sprues give you Sergeants, vexillas, and vox units to lead your squads into battle, which is perfect for creating a visually striking army.
Transport and heavy support come in the form of a Deimos pattern Rhino and a Leviathan Dreadnought. The Rhino is versatile, armed with twin-linked bolters and options like Pintle Mounted weapons, dozer blades, and hunter-killer missiles. The Leviathan Dreadnought is a walking monster, capable of taking a pounding and dishing it out with a cyclonic melta lance, grav-flux bombard, or storm cannon. Optional hull weapons and cosmetic customization mean you can make your Dreadnought truly unique. Finally, 293 infantry transfers and two vehicle transfer sheets with 44 decals each allow you to make every model pop on the tabletop.
Mechanicum Combat Force
Mechanicum fans get their own line of cybernetic chaos with the Mechanicum Combat Force. Six Thallax are the backbone of the army, a mix of brains, organs, and hulking mechanical shells armed with lightning guns. Each comes with options for phased plasma fusils, photon thrusters, and multi-meltas. You can even kit them with chain bayonets and melta bombs, while cosmetic pieces let your Thallax look completely distinct.
Mid-range punch comes from two Castellax Battle-automata, towering combat robots with claw-like shock chargers. They can carry circular power blades, bolters, or flamers and come with shoulder-mounted options including mauler bolt cannons and darkfire cannons.
At the top of the heap is the Thanatar Cavas Siege-automata, a walking artillery platform with a Hellex pattern plasma mortar and wrist-mounted mauler bolt cannon. A range of posing options means your Thanatar can be an imposing centerpiece on any battlefield. Four transfer sheets, two for macro-constructs and two for standard constructs, provide hundreds of decals for added flair.
Solar Auxilia Combat Force
Finally, the Solar Auxilia Combat Force gives you humans relying on skill, numbers, and tactical support. The box includes a Lasrifle Section of 20 infantry, a Tactical Command Section, Hermes Sentinels, and a Leman Russ Strike Tank. Infantry can be customized with grenades, bayonets, pouches, flasks, and other accessories, allowing endless squad variety.
The Tactical Command Section offers a Captain and Companions who can be kitted out with augury scanners, vexillas, and command vox units. Hermes Sentinels provide mobile firepower and scouting options, with Light or Veletaris variants carrying grenade launchers, multi-lasers, heavy flamers, or volkite calivers.
The Leman Russ tanks are the workhorses of the force, armed with primary weapons like battle cannons, heavy lascannons, and vanquisher cannons, plus secondary options including heavy bolters, lascannons, and multi-lasers. The Command Tank variant adds communication upgrades and protective shields. Finally, transfer sheets for infantry and vehicles round out the set with hundreds of markings.
