Satyr Brutes On The Way From Wargames Atlantic

With the release of Beastmen Brayherds, what better time for Wargames Atlantic to release their own set of goatmen? Let’s check them out.

Wagames Atlantic has been padding out their Classic Fantasy range lately, and their newest edition is a box of goatment, the Satyr Brutes. Satyrs come from Greek mythology and are associated with wild, drunken debauchery. They are the hard partying, frighteningly unpredictable older brothers of fauns (the kind, gentle, Roman version of goatmen). WA’s Satyrs look like they were on a bender and the winery tried to close early.

The box set contains three identical sprues, each of which makes 8 Satyr Brutes, and they are indeed brutish, standing 35mm tall. There are a variety of hand weapons, throwing spears and double handed cudgels, as well as shields in many shapes and sizes. The set is distinctly Greek in style, with a crescent-shaped shield reminiscent of ancient Greek Peltasts (skirmishers with throwing spears) and a Thyreos-style used by medium infantry. The box retails for $39.95, and for comparison, a box of 30 Beastmen Gors is going for $85 on from GW (but it’s only $72.25 in our store!)

Let us know what you think of this new set. Will you be picking any of them up to supplement your Brayherds? Sound off in the comments!

Gray was lucky (and old) enough to buy a box of RTB01 space marines new off the shelf and the rest is history. His passion for miniatures and game development has lead him into sales and production roles for tabletop companies, and on Quixotic personal ventures as well. He loves retro, historical and indie gaming, has a keenly honed sense of nostalgia for 40K and WFB, and loves to paint. Most of his gaming is done with his two sons who are just discovering the joys of the hobby, and the rest of his time is spent reading History, Fantasy and Sci-Fi, or painting minis and writing games for fun.
