From the abyssal gloom of Ghyran’s vast seas, Mathaela, Oracle of the Abyss, rises to the fore — a central figure in the coming tide of Idoneth Deepkin reinforcements.
Mathaela, high priest of the Temple of Sarr Danoi, dwells at the crushing depths of the Maithnar Sea, where they commune with the ancient Ocarian Lantern and interpret the shifting currents of fate. When visions warned of the Vermindoom threatening the sacred soul-reefs — the chorrileum, repositories of Idoneth dead — Mathaela emerged from the depths, determined to defend these precious relics against the encroaching darkness.
Their unique Siren Song of the Abyss stirs the horrors of the deep, bolstering the Attacks characteristic of nearby companion weapons. As a wizard, Mathaela wields spells from the Lore of the Deeps and has their own signature incantation, one that inflicts increasing damage on larger foes. But perhaps most dramatically, Mathaela can channel the Lore of the Abyss to summon the Incarnate of the Deep, a mighty manifestation of the realmsea’s raw, living power. This summoning comes at a steep cost, draining Mathaela’s own essence to bring the leviathan forth — a testament to the desperate state of the Idoneth’s war.
The Incarnate of the Deep unleashes its crushing maw and scything waves, slamming enemies for a potent 3 Damage and excelling at tearing down faction terrain with its boosted rend. Once on the battlefield, it can wield Grasping Tendrils: by rolling a dice (with a +1 bonus in your turn), you can either remove a deployed tendril or conjure a new one within 9″ of the Incarnate, up to a maximum of two tendrils at once.
These Abyssal Tendrils deliver brutal melee attacks, with their Freezing Grasp striking four times per swing at D3 Damage each. Even more dangerously, the Watery Clutch ability lets you, once per turn, target an engaged enemy unit; if you roll higher than the unit’s Health characteristic, they are ensnared, unable to use commands for the remainder of the turn — a devastating disruption in a key combat moment.
