Jim and Bob are back in the commentary booth — and today, they’re introducing two of the most eccentric Star Players to hit the Blood Bowl gridiron: the fiery Swiftvine Glimmershard and the towering Treeman, Maple Highgrove.
Let’s start small (literally) with Swiftvine Glimmershard, a prickly woodland spite whose infamously explosive debut with the Dar-Ellerath Beechtrees left a pile of bodies in her wake. Whether you call her cute, small, or (heaven forbid) a fairy, Swiftvine reacts with lethal precision, zipping across the pitch to shiv anyone who insults her — sometimes even lunging toward the ball if her mood swings that way. She’s not much for touchdowns, but at 110,000 Gold Pieces, teams in the Halfling Thimble Cup and Elven Kingdoms League can add her sharp attitude (and sharper blades) to their casualty count.
On the other end of the size scale stands Maple Highgrove, a friendly but fiercely competitive Treeman who stumbled into Blood Bowl after being enchanted by the Greenglade Rooters’ mix of violence and sportsmanship. Now a fan favorite, Maple uses his Vicious Vines to make Block actions against distant players — much to the dismay of opponents who often cry “unfair!” seconds before getting crushed. For 210,000 Gold Pieces (and a bag of quality fertilizer), teams in the Halfling Thimble Cup, Elven Kingdoms League, and Old World Classic can bring his heavy-hitting power to their roster.
Both miniatures are coming soon as a Forge World resin double pack, complete with rules and lore inside the box and the Blood Bowl: Spike Presents – 2024 Almanac. Whether you want sneaky stabs or smashing roots, these two are ready to change the game — one tantrum or tree punch at a time
