Today’s Scourge of Ghyran update is all about the biggest, hungriest, and least concerned about table manners faction in the Mortal Realms: the Ogor Mawtribes.
And no, they’re not politely offering you a seat at the table — they’re eyeing you as the next course. So let’s dig in (before they do) and break down what’s new.
Battle Formations: Mawpath Menaces & Greedy Eaters
This update brings two deliciously brutal new formations.
- Mawpath Menaces can lurch forward even in your opponent’s Charge phase — yes, that means they can close the gap and throw themselves into combat when the enemy least expects it. You thought you were safe? You’re not.
- Greedy Eaters, on the other hand, don’t believe in waiting — they heal and recover immediately after taking down a foe, making them terrifyingly hard to keep down. Even when you think they’re finished, they’re just getting warmed up for another bite.
Big Names, Big Flavor
What’s in a name? For Ogors, quite a bit of punch (and maybe a side of ribs).
- Gutslugger rewards staying in the fight with extra hits if they didn’t charge that turn — perfect for prolonged, messy combat.
- Mage-swallower doesn’t literally eat wizards (usually) but does make enemy Ward saves worse, thanks to ancient wizard-eating stories — or maybe curses.
- Megagobbler picks a unit type before the battle (infantry, cavalry, monster, etc.) as its “favorite meal” and gains extra Attacks every time it devours one. Can you imagine the carnage if it picks Mega-Gargants? Yikes.
War Machines Get Meaner
The two Mawtribe engines of destruction have gotten some spicy updates:
- Ironblaster crews now cram the barrel with all kinds of sharp junk — perfect for obliterating enemy infantry, cavalry, and the occasional unlucky tree.
- Gnoblar Scraplauncher teams are leaning into Ghyranic nastiness, flinging poisonous fungi, bloodwasp nests, and whatever local filth they can gather. The less armor the enemy has, the worse their day’s about to get.
Tomorrow promises even more hulking horrors, but this time with an even worse smell and an ominous buzzing sound in the air. Stick around — the feast is far from over. Want me to sketch up some army combos or synergies using these new rules? Just say the word!
