Games Workshop, the powerhouse behind the beloved Warhammer universe, is rewarding its staff with a £20 million bonus as it posts record-breaking profits and revenue for the year ending June 1.
In a trading update released ahead of its full-year results, the Nottingham-based company announced the bonus will be shared equally among employees, in recognition of their contributions to another year of impressive growth. This marks a rise from £18 million last year, and £11 million the year before.
While the exact headcount remains undisclosed, Games Workshop is believed to employ around 1,500 staff in Nottingham, with many more working globally across its operations. The company currently runs nearly 550 Warhammer retail stores worldwide.
The figures behind this generous bonus are as impressive as a Primarch on a rampage:
- Revenue is expected to exceed £560 million, up from £495 million the previous year.
- Pre-tax profits are projected at £255 million, up from £203 million.
These results cement Games Workshop’s reputation as one of the UK’s most successful creative companies. It became a member of the FTSE 100 in 2023 – nearly 50 years after it was founded in 1975 by Ian Livingstone, Steve Jackson, and John Peake.
Beyond miniatures and tabletop gaming, Games Workshop is rapidly expanding its media footprint. In December 2023, it inked a high-profile deal with Amazon to adapt Warhammer for film and television. The company also continues to license the Warhammer IP to video game developers, adding to its global influence and revenue streams.
In an age when few companies are sharing their success so broadly, Games Workshop’s latest bonus scheme is as refreshing as a well-placed Nuln Oil wash – and a clear sign that its mission to build worlds and reward those who help shape them is thriving.
