The grim darkness of the far future just got a lot busier.
As Warhammer Skulls rolls on, five of the biggest names in Warhammer 40,000 video gaming are seeing major content drops, game-changing features, and free events you can dive into right now. Whether you’re slashing through Tyranids with a chainsword or calculating the trajectory of a cyber-mastiff, there’s something for everyone. Here’s what’s new:
Siege Mode Arrives for Space Marine 2 – And It’s Free
Grab your boltgun and two loyal Battle Brothers—Siege Mode is almost here. This tense co-op survival experience sees three players fight off endless waves of Tyranids across the war-torn surface of Kadaku. It’s a high-octane test of endurance and teamwork, and best of all, it’s completely free for all Space Marine 2 players.
Want to bring more flair to your Ultramarine? Keep an eye out for two new cosmetic DLCs – the White Scars Chapter Pack and Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack – available soon for Season Pass holders. And as a bonus for Warhammer+ subscribers, anyone with an active membership on June 1st will receive the breastplate of Sergeant Metaurus, star of the Secret Level TV episode.
Darktide: Arbites Class, Nurgle Event, and Major Overhauls Incoming
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is getting a major injection of content on June 23rd with the arrival of the Adeptus Arbites class—a whole new playstyle for players looking to enforce the Emperor’s will with riot-gear and righteous fury.
To mark Warhammer Skulls, a new in-game event kicks off today. Players must choose whether to destroy a festering Nurgle totem, summoning a Chaos Spawn in the process, or leave it untouched—and deal with empowered enemies. Grim decisions await.
And for new Rejects? Big changes are coming. The early game has been streamlined, onboarding has improved, and progression has been made smoother—all part of an effort to welcome fresh players on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Don’t forget: Darktide is also available via Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox Free Play Days this week let everyone try it out.
Rogue Trader’s Second DLC Brings Law, Beasts, and New Challenges
The second major DLC for Rogue Trader lands on June 24th, continuing Owlcat’s deep dive into the 41st Millennium’s roleplaying potential. You’ll gain a brand-new Adeptus Arbites companion, engage in a 15-hour story arc, and unlock a brand-new Overseer archetype, complete with animal familiars like cyber-eagles and cyber-mastiffs. These loyal beasts can now join you in combat—because if you’re going to bring justice to the stars, why not bring a friend?
Owlcat has also confirmed that Season Pass 2 is in the works, with two more future expansions already on the deck. No spoilers yet—but rest assured, we’ll hear more when the Rogue Trader returns to Footfall.
Mechanicus 2 Teases First Gameplay – and Votann Appearances
Skulls wouldn’t be complete without a transmission from Mars. Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 has returned with new gameplay footage—and a big surprise. For the first time ever in a Warhammer video game, the Leagues of Votann will appear. But will they side with the Machine God, or stand in the Tech-Priests’ way on the perilous world of Hekateus IV?
This sequel builds on the tactical depth of the original Mechanicus, with two full campaigns—one starring the red-robed Priests of Mars, and one giving you command of the Necrons. Whether you want to upgrade your mechadendrites or reawaken ancient horrors, this game has you covered.
Curious? You can play the original Mechanicus free on Steam from May 22–26, or check it out on Xbox Free Play Days during the Skulls event. And don’t forget to wishlist Mechanicus 2 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
From unrelenting sieges to righteous law enforcement and grimdark familiars, the Skulls event is overflowing with fresh ways to experience the 41st Millennium. Whether you prefer boltgun justice, narrative-driven RPGs, or tactical circuit-driven warfare, now’s the time to jump in. The Emperor approves.
