Drench yourself in gore, bellow your allegiance to Khorne, and tear into the Scourge of Ghyran
but maybe read this update first. We asked Lydia for a tactical breakdown, but all we got was a 10-minute scream and a video that ended in a blood-slicked lens. So here’s what we could translate from the carnage.
New Battle Formations: Speed and Skulls
The Goretide have found a second wind – or maybe third – since Korghos Khul’s ascension to Daemonhood. This formation gives them terrifying speed and aggression, getting your units across the battlefield fast and into melee where they belong. Think less “run-and-gun” and more “sprint-and-sever.”
Meanwhile, the Tournament of Skulls is a brutal leaderboard where mortal and daemon heroes compete to claim the most worthy kills. The prize? More attacks, more blood, more glory. It’s a great excuse to go hero-hunting and earn Khorne’s favour.
Gifts for the Blood God: A New Prayer Lore
Chanted on a 3+, and supercharged on an 8+ (Khorne’s sacred number), these new prayers are simple, brutal, and effective:
- Goreflesh: Toughens your warriors by negating incoming damage.
- Runes of Loathing: Grants a powerful ward against enemy spells, prayers, and manifestations.
- Gift of Apoplexy: Makes enemy units lose it entirely—if they use an ability other than Move, Charge, or Fight, they lash out at their own allies. Expect carnage in enemy backlines.
Updated Warscrolls: Axe Reality and Crush Everything
The Mighty Lord of Khorne gets a brutal upgrade. His Reality-Splitting Axe now has a chance to rip enemy heroes out of existence—no saves, no second chances. On top of that, once per battle, he can issue a charge command in the enemy Fight Phase, letting your forces interrupt and slam headlong into their plans.
Mighty Bloodcrushers are now more dangerous than ever. Their mounts don’t just charge – they trample, impale, and burst through enemy lines. Positioned well, they’ll smash through weak units and into vulnerable heroes with unstoppable fury.
General’s Handbook Fact #4: The Jungle Fights Back
New obscuring terrain rules now offer greater protection to units fully within dense terrain. Great news for ranged units—until your arrows get tangled in creepers. Meanwhile, Places of Power have been corrupted by Ghyranic energies: expect magical pollen, healing glades, and rampaging roots to change the battlefield with every turn.
That’s your blood-soaked update for the day. Tomorrow’s Scourge of Ghyran preview might be less violent… or it might just rip the ground out from under you. Stay tuned.
