Not every hero of the Riddermark thunders into war with sword raised and banners flying.
Lief, the teenage page of King Helm from The War of the Rohirrim™, may not be the mightiest warrior in Edoras, but he brings strategic value where it counts — supporting your army with royal orders that bolster morale, sharpen accuracy, and enhance mobility. Now available in the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, Lief offers a fresh, tactical option for Rohan commanders looking to outmaneuver their foes.
Orders from Edoras: Lief’s Tactical Edge
Lief’s key ability, Orders from Edoras, allows him to spend a Will Point at the end of his activation to issue one of five once-per-game orders to nearby Rohan models, provided he’s not engaged in combat. His presence can let friendly Heroes nearby declare a Heroic Combat for free, inspire surrounding warriors with Fearless to resist breaking, or allow Rohan archers to shoot more effectively on the move by ignoring the usual penalty and rerolling failed hits. In tougher terrain, Lief can guide allies with the Woodland Creature and Mountain Dweller rules, while in moments that demand swift action, he can increase the Move value of nearby models by 2″, giving your Riders or infantry a burst of speed just when it’s needed most.
On Foot or Horseback, Lief Supports the Line
Available in both foot and mounted versions, Lief fits comfortably into many army builds. He naturally pairs well with Helm Hammerhand’s host, but his support skills make him just as valuable alongside characters like Éomer, Théodred, or even basic Rohan Captains. He’s not built to fight on the front lines, but he excels at amplifying the performance of those who are.
