You’d think that losing your entire homeworld would slow a regiment down—but not the Cadians.
With Cadia reduced to rubble by Abaddon the Despoiler, the survivors have only grown more determined, forging a legacy in exile that’s stronger than ever. Among them stands Minka Lesk, a soldier whose rise from Whiteshield to legend has captured the imagination of readers and hobbyists alike. the GW Community team sat down with the author Justin Hill to discuss his legendary character.
The Face of a New Cadia
First introduced in Cadia Stands (2017), Minka Lesk has become the heart and soul of post-Cadia Imperial Guard fiction. With the destruction of her world creating both tragedy and opportunity, Minka has clawed her way up through the ranks with grit, loyalty, and a whole lot of lasgun fire. Her story has continued across multiple novels by Justin D. Hill, culminating in the most recent entry: Hell’s Last.
This indomitable soldier now even leads armies on the tabletop, thanks to the release of her official miniature—a moment that Justin himself calls “an honour.” He adds, “I was a gamer long before I was a Black Library author. Seeing Minka appear in plastic was extraordinary—my son even fields her in his Cadian army.”
