Welcome back to GW’s ongoing Touchline Tactics where they break down your favorite Blood Bowl teams, figure out how they win games, and decide which Star Players deserve a slot on your roster!
Today, we’re donning our finest regalia and marching onto the pitch with the Imperial Nobility — a team that controls the field like kings and frustrates opponents into submission.
Let’s dig into how these aristocratic bruisers operate and how you can turn them into champions.
Playstyle: Controlling the Pitch with Class
Imperial Nobility teams shine by denying ground to their opponents. With a blend of defensive skills and solid positionals, they can grind fast teams to a halt and outlast bash teams through clever positioning.
They’re expensive, though, so mistakes can be costly. Against agile teams like Wood Elves, a single hole in your line can be a disaster. Smart coaching and calculated risk-taking are key.
Tactics: Shield the Blitzers, Crush the Foes
Your Retainer Linemen are expendable pawns, perfect for stalling enemy advances or even fouling pricey enemy players. Throwers focus on handing the ball off safely, becoming mobile shields afterward.
Your Noble Blitzers are the crown jewels — protect them at all costs! Their starting skills (Block and Catch) make them ideal ball carriers and touchdown machines. Bodyguards live up to their name, using Stand Firm and Wrestle to resist enemy pushes and protect your key players.
Don’t forget the Ogre. Supported properly, he’s a wrecking ball that ties up multiple opponents and clears space for your ball carriers.
Skilling Up: How to Build a Dynasty
- Retainer Linemen: Grab Block, Kick (only one needed), or Tackle. Random General skills are also a fun, cheap gamble.
- Thrower: Start with Sure Hands, then Block, Dodge, or Leader for extra reliability. Passing builds (Accurate, Pass, Nerves of Steel) are a fun alternate route.
- Noble Blitzer: Dodge first. Then Tackle, Sidestep, Sure Hands, or Strip Ball to customize your Blitzers into ball hawks or carriers.
- Bodyguards: Guard early and often. After that, Mighty Blow (+1), Tackle, Strip Ball, and Block beef up your field control.
Top 5 Star Players for Imperial Nobility
5. Cindy Piewhistle – A cheap Bombardier is hilarious and devastating for a slow, grinding team like Nobility. More pies, longer drives.
4. Ivar Eriksson – Guard, Tackle, and a bonus movement trick? Ivar is tailor-made for reinforcing your defensive wall.
3. Rumbelow Sheepskin – Sometimes you need brute force to crack a cage open — enter an angry goat and a fearless Halfling!
2. The Mighty Zug – If you need raw strength, pairing Zug with an Ogre gives you a terrifying frontline nobody wants to stand across from.
1. Griff Oberwald – The ultimate superstar. Griff can do it all — ball carrying, blitzing, defending — but watch out, he’ll hoard all the SPP if you let him!
Final Thoughts: Play Smarter, Not Louder
Imperial Nobility aren’t about flash — they’re about steady pressure, perfect positioning, and controlling the flow of the game until the opponent breaks. If you enjoy forcing your enemies to play your game, and watching fast teams get bogged down in a mire of fine tailoring and excellent moustaches, this is the team for you.
Suit up, polish your armor, and claim your rightful place at the top of the league!
