The Lone Star Open (LSO) 2025 is shaping up to be more than just a premier tabletop gaming event—it’s a heartfelt tribute to our military community.
Set in the expansive Watters Creek Convention Center in Allen, Texas, this event promises a weekend filled with competitive gaming, camaraderie, and special honors for those who have served.
Honoring Our Heroes
LSO 2025 places a strong emphasis on recognizing and celebrating military personnel. Attendees who are currently serving or have served in the armed forces will receive wristbands, making it easy for staff, vendors, and fellow gamers to identify and appreciate their service. These wristbands come with perks like drink tickets distributed throughout the weekend and a special token of appreciation available at the front desk.
A new tradition is also being introduced: the Unit Patch Wall. Military attendees are encouraged to bring their unit patches—be it color or subdued—to display and showcase their unit pride. Wargaming clubs with their own patches are also invited to participate, adding to the sense of community and shared history.
Right-Arm Night Social
A highlight of the weekend is the Right-Arm Night Social, scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 9:00 PM at the Canyon Bar & Grill. This gathering is open to all veterans, active-duty military, and LSO attendees. It’s an opportunity to share stories, enjoy drinks, and engage in friendly competitions like challenge coin showdowns. Attendees are also encouraged to sing their branch or unit songs, with prizes awarded for the most spirited performances. This event is proudly sponsored by US Army Esports.
Competitive Gaming Galore
LSO 2025 offers a robust lineup of gaming events catering to various interests:
- Warhammer 40K Champs: A two-day, six-round tournament that’s GW Golden Ticket eligible and contributes to both TCC and ITC points.
- Age of Sigmar Champs: Spanning two days with five rounds, this event also offers GW Golden Ticket eligibility and ITC points.
- Blood Bowl Weekend: Featuring the Lone Star Throw Down on Saturday and the Dungeon Bowl Variant Festival of Flame on Sunday.
- Kill Team Champs: A competitive event with FLG prize support.
- And much more!
Each of these events provides an opportunity for players to showcase their skills, engage with the community, and vie for top honors.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
In partnership with US Army Esports, LSO 2025 is also focusing on giving back. All profits from the sale of the AER Custom Dice Set and Objective Markers will be donated to Army Emergency Relief (AER), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to active-duty, retired, and deceased Army personnel and their families. This initiative allows attendees to support a meaningful cause while enjoying the event.
