New 28mm Late War Germans from Victrix Limited

Victrix has released their most intricate and comprehensive set to date and it is a thing of beauty! Let’s take a closer look.

WW2 is one of the most gamed historical periods and the market is awash with miniatures, especially Germans, which are all but required to be one of the two factions on the table for any late war scenario. To stand out from the crowd a manufacturer will need to make a kit of surpassing functionality, utility, beauty and even affordability. This is no mean feat, but I believe Victrix has done it. This set of 44 minis will retail for only $50, yet it boasts some of the best proportions and detail of any plastic kit on the market, comes with an enormous number of weapon and kit options, and is capable of creating a full platoon, complete with heavy weapons and officers.

But Victrix has gone above and beyond just the price and contents, showing a level of commitment to the product rivaling that of GW. Take a look at their documentation of the sprue and assembly process:

Complex? Somewhat. Figure 8 looks like it will be about as much fun as assembling the War of the Rohirrim minis, but this is also a remarkably thorough and comprehensive guide to making a lot of interesting minis. And there are loads more images like this on their website, as well as written descriptions of each figure’s assembly options. The attention to detail for this product is truly top tier.

The bullet points for the box contents are:

  • Full infantry platoon of 30 men (+14 Heavy Weapons & Support Figures)
  • Heavy Weapons figures
    • 81mm mortar
    • Tripod mounted MG42
    • Panzerschreck
    • Multiple Panzerfaust options
  • Other support figures
    • Radio operators
    • Medics
    • Ammo carriers
    • Officers
    • Snipers

What do you think? Will you be picking up these when they hit the streets? Let us know in the comments!

Gray was lucky (and old) enough to buy a box of RTB01 space marines new off the shelf and the rest is history. His passion for miniatures and game development has lead him into sales and production roles for tabletop companies, and on Quixotic personal ventures as well. He loves retro, historical and indie gaming, has a keenly honed sense of nostalgia for 40K and WFB, and loves to paint. Most of his gaming is done with his two sons who are just discovering the joys of the hobby, and the rest of his time is spent reading History, Fantasy and Sci-Fi, or painting minis and writing games for fun.
