What’s up, Sigmarites and lore fanatics!
If you’ve been following Blacktalon on Warhammer TV (and let’s be real—if you’re into Age of Sigmar storytelling, you should be), then you know we’ve just hit a massive turning point in Season 2. The first three episodes, including a mid-season finale that pulls zero punches, are out now—and we’ve got drama, daemons, and some serious Chaos flexing. Fair warning: spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t caught up, go smash that Warhammer+ login before reading on.
A Realm-Gate Too Far
The season picks up right where we left off—with the Stormrift Realmgate thoroughly corrupted. This isn’t just a plot twist; it’s a metaphysical gut-punch to Hammerhal, Sigmar’s prized twin-city spanning the realms of Ghyran and Aqshy. The severing of this gate means both halves of the city can no longer sustain one another. The whole “two realms, one city” concept that makes Hammerhal so iconic? It’s collapsing.
But it’s worse than just a logistical nightmare. The corrupted Realmgate doesn’t just cut off Ghyran—it’s now connected to some shadow-soaked hellhole, and that spells doom for the Aqshy side of the city. And from that shadow? Chaos stirs.
Enter: Eternus – The Anti-Stormcast
If you thought the Realmgate drama was bad, Eternus makes it downright apocalyptic. This guy is the walking nightmare of any Stormcast general—a Chaos Lord reborn again and again through black lightning, a dark parody of Sigmar’s reforging process. He’s made from the harvested souls of fallen Stormcasts, twisted and corrupted, which is just peak evil genius from Be’lakor’s playbook.
We got a taste of Eternus in Episode 2 where he basically wiped a Sigmarite settlement off the map for breakfast and then tossed the Blacktalons around like ragdolls, especially Neave. The dude is cold, disciplined, and terrifying—a Chaos Champion without the unhinged theatrics of a Khorne Berserker or a Tzeentchian schemer. He’s the villain your tabletop army dreads facing.
Be’lakor – Chaos Pulling the Strings
Let’s talk about the big bad behind it all: Be’lakor. The First Prince of Chaos is back doing what he does best—playing the long game, scheming across centuries, and generally being that one evil mastermind who’s always three moves ahead. His ultimate goal? Knock Archaon off his Everchosen pedestal and claim that crown for himself.
Right now, Be’lakor’s eye is on Hammerhal, and he’s using Eternus to set up a full-blown Chaos invasion. But—and here’s where things get real spicy—he also seems to have a personal interest in Neave. Eternus drops a bombshell that Be’lakor and Neave have some kind of bond, one that’s survived multiple reforgings. That’s huge. Reforging is supposed to wipe the slate clean. If she remembers—or he remembers her—something is very wrong (or very right for fans of juicy lore).
This adds a whole new layer to Neave’s story. She’s not just fighting for the city—she’s battling literal demons of her past, and Be’lakor is preparing to manifest directly into Hammerhal for a one-on-one showdown. Stakes? Sky-high. Sword? Probably about to be bloodied.
Mark of Ruin – Be’lakor’s Signature Style
You lore hunters may have noticed a recurring sigil—the Mark of Ruin—cropping up since Season 1. It’s now confirmed to be Be’lakor’s personal brand, a leering skull that not only screams “I’m bad news,” but also references his deep-cut Warhammer history. Those spiral motifs? A direct callback to the corrupted mages of Albion from the Dark Shadows campaign of 2001.
It’s those little details that show just how much effort goes into the writing. This isn’t just a cartoon—it’s canon-rich, continuity-woven storytelling that ties the Age of Sigmar firmly to its Warhammer Fantasy roots.
Final Thoughts – Neave’s In the Storm Now
With the Realmgate shattered, Hammerhal on the brink, and Chaos champions knocking at the door, Blacktalon Season 2 is delivering hard. The mid-season finale doesn’t just raise the stakes—it flips the whole gameboard. Neave isn’t just fighting daemons anymore. She’s confronting the truth behind her reforgings, her identity, and maybe even a past that Sigmar didn’t want her to remember.
The back half of the season is set to be absolutely wild. If you’re into deep lore, high-stakes battles, and character arcs that cut to the bone, this is the best AoS storytelling we’ve had since Dominion.
