Back in 2023, Warhammer kicked off a small but mighty initiative to help tackle hobby waste – a plastic recycling program aimed at giving a second life to your old sprues and empty paint pots.
Two years later, with over 16 tonnes of material collected, we’re thrilled to say it’s time to take things global.
Starting in late April 2025, the recycling program will be available in all Warhammer stores in France and select stores in the United States. If you’ve been wondering what to do with those empty Citadel Colour pots or the sprues piling up in your bits box – this is your answer.
How It Works
It’s easy. Just drop off your old plastic sprues, empty paint pots, or even plastic Warhammer miniatures at a participating Warhammer store and toss them in the Sprue Bin. From there, our recycling partner TerraCycle® handles the rest, turning your hobby leftovers into things like playground equipment, planters, or even table tennis tables.
The program accepts:
- Any plastic Warhammer sprues (even if they still have bits on them)
- Empty Citadel Colour paint pots
- Plastic Citadel miniatures
We can’t accept metal or resin models, or plastics from other manufacturers – simply because we can’t guarantee their composition for safe recycling.
Why It Matters
Warhammer models use incredibly high-quality plastic, which makes them perfect for repurposing into other products. While we’re not quite at the point of turning your old sprues into brand-new miniatures, we’re looking into it for the future.
This program is part of a broader push to reduce our environmental impact, alongside things like renewable energy in our facilities and eco-friendly packaging. Small steps like these can add up, and your support makes it possible.
Is Your Store Participating?
The program is already live across England, Scotland, and Wales, and by April it’ll be up and running in France and select US stores. You can check whether your local store is included by visiting the TerraCycle® website.
