As the Great Gun of Volkus prepares to fire, the hallowed ammunition is escorted with reverence through Hive Fissilicus, accompanied by fervent pilgrims and preachers.
But this is no mere procession—the Sanctifiers, militant missionaries of the Adeptus Ministorum, stand ready to purge any heretics who dare to interfere.
A Legacy of Holy Warriors
The Adeptus Ministorum has long embedded militant preachers within Imperial military forces, and the Sanctifiers kill team embodies this tradition. These operatives wield a mix of hand flamers, chainswords, and heavier weapons like meltaguns, plasma guns, and Ministorum flamers. Their aesthetic calls back to classic metal missionaries, with their Confessor leader paying homage to Confessor Kyrinov, and the Drill Abbot mirroring Preacher Josef from the old Inquisitor game.
A Diverse Team of Fanatics
The Sanctifiers offer a wealth of specialist operatives, allowing for highly flexible squad builds. Up to four Preachers can be included, but with options like the Drill Abbot, Persecutor, Conflagrator, and Reliquant, players may opt for a full team of specialists.
Each operative contributes unique abilities:
- The Confessor delivers a Sermon that bolsters allies, making them more resilient in combat.
- The Death Cult Assassin strikes from the shadows with throwing knives and ritual blades.
- The Salvationist supports the team with a medikit and a conversion field generator, improving allies’ defenses.
The Miraculist is a standout operative, serving as a living conduit for the Emperor’s divine power. Their burning aura scorches nearby foes, and once per game, they can unleash a blinding burst of holy energy to obliterate a heretic.
The Power of Fire: Blaze and Burn
Many of the Sanctifiers’ flame weapons feature the unique Blaze rule, setting enemies alight with holy fire. This status inflicts D3 damage each time the affected operative activates unless they spend an Action Point to extinguish it, or take a risky D6 roll to see if the flames subside.
This emphasis on close-range firepower makes the Sanctifiers an aggressive kill team, best suited for bold, decisive play. However, their relative fragility means careful positioning and judicious use of defensive abilities will be crucial to their success.
The Sanctifiers join the fray in Kill Team: Blood and Zeal, available for pre-order this Saturday. Whether you’re cleansing the unclean or standing against the tide of zealots, this expansion promises intense close-quarters action. Will the Emperor’s faithful triumph, or will Khorne’s cultists silence their prayers in blood?
