The Great Gun of Volkus is nearly ready to fire, with workers and servitors preparing each colossal round in sacred rituals.
But before its payload can be unleashed on the Ork-infested asteroid of Cobolth, war erupts within the forge world’s industrial sprawl. Kill Team: Blood and Zeal brings fresh factions, innovative mechanics, and dynamic mission packs, pushing the game into exciting new territory.
Blood and Zeal Mission Pack – Tactical Upgrades with Card Play
At the core of this expansion is the Blood and Zeal Mission Pack, which introduces two new kill teams—the Sanctifiers and Goremongers—alongside a unique deck of 32 cards that add game-changing abilities.
- Zeal cards represent divine protection, resilience, and healing, helping operatives reduce damage, recover from injuries, and even avoid death entirely.
- Blood cards embody raw aggression and slaughter, boosting damage, increasing movement (including Charge), and allowing operatives to fight or shoot twice in a single round.
Players draw these cards at key moments—during the Strategy Phase and whenever their opponent scores Victory Points (VPs)—creating a constantly shifting battlefield where faith and fury determine success. At the end of the game, the player who played the most of each type gains an additional VP, making card management a vital part of victory.
This mission pack works with any kill team, offering a new strategic layer that adds unpredictability and excitement, though some factions will naturally align more with one deck than the other.
The Shrine Statue – A Crucial Battlefield Asset
A new Shrine Statue terrain piece serves as a tactical focal point, offering operatives powerful abilities when controlled. Players can Praise or Blaspheme, exchanging cards from their hand or discard pile for fresh draws, or Hallow or Defile, drawing an additional card outright. This makes the statue a key target in games using the Blood and Zeal Mission Pack, forcing players to fight for control over divine inspiration—or unholy power.
Expanding Kill Team Missions and Future Content
Kill Team: Blood and Zeal is just the first step in an ongoing series of expansions. Every new Battle Box will introduce a themed mission pack, adding fresh mechanics and strategic depth. Kill Team: Brutal and Cunning, for example, introduced the Volkus Compound Mission Pack, featuring attacker/defender missions where one team fortifies their position while the other launches a surprise assault.
Future expansions will continue to broaden gameplay with new mission structures, plastic terrain kits, and faction-specific mechanics. Some releases will incorporate Warhammer 40,000 models as Non-Player Operatives (NPOs) to serve as mission-based NPCs, adding even more variety. The game will also expand head-to-head, co-op, and solo play, ensuring new ways to experience Kill Team beyond traditional matchups.
The Blood and Zeal Mission Pack is only available in Kill Team: Blood and Zeal, which goes up for pre-order this Saturday. With its new mechanics and evolving mission structure, this expansion is a must-have for players looking to bring more thematic, high-stakes battles to their games of Kill Team.
