Tiny Samurai Command incoming from Wargames Atlantic

A third plastic set is out for Wargames Atlantic’s Grand Battle Scale Samurai range. Let’s take a look!

Wargames Atlantic has been doing a ton of 10mm work lately and they show no signs of slowing down. Their latest release is a command set for their Samurai range, the third boxed set for this particular subset of their Grand Battles Scale. Complementing their previously released Samurai and Ashigaru sets, this box contains mounted and dismounted commanders, banners, command strips of two and three models, more banners, seated army commanders, even more banners, a giant drum and tiny drummers, and also several more banners! One could easily imagine a scenario where two friends buy a box of Samurai and Ashigaru each and split this Command box to round out their armies.

Look at all those banners! To be fair, the giant, square, fabric things at the bottom are not banners, but rather those interesting privacy screens that feudal Japanese lords tended to use during battle or when having picnics.

But of course there is more than fabric to this set; it’s hard plastic, after all! It looks like there are command strips that could be used for Samurai units as well as Ashigaru, and yes, I am mostly basing that assessment on the hats and 10-15 viewings of both Ran and Throne of Blood in high school. The painted examples from Wargames Atlantic are quite inspiring and truly lend an epic feel to the set. There is still a small matter of a “surprise” for the range, promised in November for sometime this year. Who knows what that will be, since it could be called “complete” at this point, but we will see!

What do you think of the new Samurai Command. Will you be picking them up? Let us know in the comments!
