The Warhammer International Tournament Circuit (ITC) is undergoing some exciting changes to improve the experience for both players and event organizers, reflecting the growing popularity of Warhammer events worldwide.
The changes aim to make participating and hosting ITC events more accessible, streamlined, and rewarding, without placing the ITC behind a paywall. Here’s a rundown of what to expect:
New Season Dates and Structure
The 2025 ITC season will officially kick off on November 25, 2024, and conclude after the World Championships of Warhammer in November 2025. This shift means that the season will now run from one World Championship to the next, instead of from one Las Vegas Open to the next, ensuring the competitive scene stays aligned with the biggest event in the calendar. The Las Vegas Open remains a key fixture, but now other events will have a clearer timeline for inclusion in the ITC.
Expanded Country Rankings and Golden Tickets
One of the biggest changes this year is the introduction of country-based rankings. This aims to better represent regions that were previously underserved, making the ITC more inclusive. Players will still see global and regional rankings, but now their progress will be tracked primarily based on country standings. At the midpoint of the season (June 1, 2025), the highest-ranked players in each country who aren’t yet qualified will receive invites to the World Championships of Warhammer.
Additionally, the ranking system now rewards events of all sizes more evenly. While large events will still award more points, smaller events (especially those between 20 and 64 participants, and those between 128 and 256 players) will see a greater point boost for every additional player. This change aims to encourage the growth of events in medium-size categories and offer more opportunities for all regions to shine.
Automated Tokens and Templates for Organizers
For event organizers, one major update is the automation of token requests for events. Organizers in the Approved TO Program will have their token requests automatically approved, simplifying the event setup process. Games Workshop is committed to supporting independent organizers who make Warhammer events possible, with nearly 2,000 organizers already in the program.
The introduction of official event and scoring templates for Best Coast Pairings will help new and experienced organizers alike run events more smoothly. These templates, though not mandatory, offer a standard format that can accelerate event organization and scoring, reducing the complexity for those unfamiliar with the process.
Event Ranking Boosts and Integration with MyWarhammer
Finally, the partnership with Best Coast Pairings has been further integrated with MyWarhammer accounts. Organizers can now link their MyWarhammer accounts with Best Coast Pairings for easier management of their events. Event rankings will also receive a boost based on organizers’ status: those linked with MyWarhammer, approved as part of the TO program, or hosting World Championships qualifying events will receive incremental boosts. This system is designed to help smaller events and new organizers gain recognition, while established large events will continue to hold their prominence.
Looking Ahead
These changes aim to enhance the Warhammer competitive scene by supporting organizers, expanding opportunities for players, and providing a more inclusive and streamlined tournament experience. The ITC will continue to grow, rewarding both the biggest events and the smaller, community-driven ones. Feedback and future adjustments will ensure that the ITC remains a vibrant and exciting part of the Warhammer community.
