As the Horus Heresy continued to tear the galaxy apart, the influence of the Primordial Annihilator (the Chaos God Khorne) began to take an ever stronger grip on the Traitor Primarchs.
Fulgrim’s transformation into his Transfigured form was one of the first signs of the chaotic changes, but it was Angron, the primarch of the World Eaters, who would undergo a radical and brutal transformation—one that was not entirely of his own choosing.
Angron’s Transformation
Unlike Fulgrim, whose descent into daemonhood was his own decision, Angron’s infusion with Khorne’s bloodthirsty madness was orchestrated by Lorgar, the Primarch of the Word Bearers. Lorgar’s machinations and the influence of the dark gods forever changed Angron, reshaping him into a being driven by rage and the need to slaughter. This transformation came to a head during the final stages of the Horus Heresy, just before his fateful duel with Sanguinius at the Eternity Gate.
Angron Transfigured is a miniature that embodies this monstrous, bloodthirsty form, dripping with rage, chains, skulls, and battle-worn wings. The Primarch is depicted in a raw, ferocious form, with no regard for the weapons he wields—only the desire to kill. His weapons, the Blades of the Red Angel, are as savage and corrupted as their master, symbolizing his detachment from any concept of honor or legacy.
Lotara Sarrin – The Unlikely Hero
In stark contrast to the blood-soaked rampage of Angron, Lotara Sarrin stands as a figure of calm, intelligence, and respect. A key character aboard Angron’s flagship, The Conqueror, Lotara was admired by the World Eaters for her unyielding resolve and strategic brilliance. Despite Angron’s tendency to be indifferent toward his Legion, Lotara commanded their respect with her leadership, earning the captaincy of The Conqueror.
Though she was a skilled fighter, her real strength lay in her expertise in void warfare, a discipline that led to numerous victories for the World Eaters. Her status within the Legion made her one of the few individuals who had Angron’s respect, even if that respect was rooted more in her ability to command than in her combat prowess. Lotara carries a power sword named Conqueror’s Bite, a ceremonial weapon she dislikes but wears out of tradition, much like her leader’s indifference to names.
The Miniatures and Their Rules
Both Angron Transfigured and Lotara Sarrin will be receiving rules as part of a digital download upon their release. Angron, as you would expect, is a combat monster, perfectly suited to tearing through enemy lines with his unrelenting fury. However, Lotara’s strengths lie in Zone Mortalis missions, where her strategic mind and battlefield acumen are of great value, though she can still hold her own in other types of engagements.
The contrasting natures of Angron and Lotara offer exciting narrative possibilities on the tabletop. Whether you’re commanding the World Eaters in full-blown assault or playing a more tactical game of Zone Mortalis, these miniatures bring a lot of thematic depth to the battlefield.
For fans of the Horus Heresy, these miniatures represent a new chapter for two of the most iconic figures of the Traitor Legions. Angron’s monstrous transformation is a highlight, but Lotara’s inclusion as a leader in her own right adds an interesting and unexpected twist. The upcoming release will likely inspire a lot of new tactics and stories for the Warhammer universe.
