The latest update for Gloomspite Gitz has arrived, and it’s all about the Bad Moon and its mysterious, shifting faces.
The speed-crazed Gitmob, led by Droggz da Sunchompa, are about to get their hands on a brand-new army box, available for pre-order this Saturday. These mischievous grots may be more concerned with their own squabbling under the spiteful glare of the Glareface Frazzlegit, but that moon’s influence is too big to ignore.
In the past, the Bad Moon was a fickle, capricious deity, appearing and disappearing at random, causing panic and chaos amongst the Gloomspite Gitz. But in Battletome: Gloomspite Gitz, this new edition turns the tables, bringing a more predictable, strategic element to how the Bad Moon operates during battles. No longer will the moon’s phases be a random event – now you can predict its behavior, adding depth and strategy to how the Gloomspite Gitz operate.
The New Battle Traits: Bad Moon’s Faces
The Bad Moon now comes with a cycle of four distinct expressions: Grinnin’, Scowlin’, Sulkin’, and Cacklin’. Each of these phases affects different aspects of the army, offering a tactical edge depending on which face the moon is showing. Each battle round will see the moon shift into a new face, giving players the chance to plan and adapt based on its effects.
- Grinnin’ makes Moonclan Grots become Frothing Zealots, fiercely defending their ground when the moon grins.
- Sulkin’ and Cacklin’ help Sneaky Snarlfangs (the speedy wolf riders) retreat and still make a charge or shoot, giving your fast movers extra mobility.
- Scowlin’ and Grinnin’ make Troggoths even tougher, offering protection from shooting for a couple of rounds if you play it right.
This new feature allows players to adapt their strategies based on the moon’s mood, making the Gloomspite Gitz army feel even more unpredictable and deadly.
New Spells and Strategic Abilities
The Gloomspite shamans have also had an epiphany, thanks to the moon’s influence. After munching on some inspiration mushrooms, these mystics have rewritten the Lore of the Clammydank to take advantage of the Bad Moon’s shifting faces.
For example, the new spell Bad Portents gives players the power to manipulate the moon’s expression, allowing you to influence which face will appear next. A successful roll lets you set the Bad Moon’s expression for the next turn, adding a layer of control to an otherwise chaotic army.
Skragrott the Loonking gets an upgrade too, as he now demands the moon remain in its current phase, ensuring the Gloomspite Gitz can make use of the phase that best suits their strategy.
Malevolent Moon: Ultimate Control
If Gloomspite Gitz players don’t feel like dealing with the moon’s constantly changing faces, they can call upon the Malevolent Moon spell from the Dank Manifestations Lore. This powerful spell creates an aura of the Bad Moon’s light within 12″, allowing the army to benefit from all four of the Bad Moon’s faces simultaneously. Talk about versatility!
The Bad Moon Keeps on Shining
As you can see, the Bad Moon’s influence has grown much more powerful in this new iteration, allowing players to plan more effectively around its faces. Whether it’s empowering your Grots with unshakable zeal, making your Troggoths tougher, or giving your Snarlfangs some extra speed, the tactical flexibility is huge. No more unpredictability – now, it’s all about clever timing and strategy.
With this new army set and rules update, the Gloomspite Gitz are looking better than ever. Prepare to embrace the moon’s wily ways and take your grot horde to the next level!
