New Zealand based Battlefront Miniatures, makers of Flames of War, have announced a new focus on the early war. Let’s check it out!
You might be forgiven for assuming that Battlefront Miniatures is fixated on Late WW2 and the biggest, badest tanks. There have been a lot of Late War and Leviathans releases lately, which bring some of the largest tanks to the tabletop for truly epic armored combat, but there is not as much there for fans of combined arms and less dominant armor. Luckily for us fans of Rock/Paper/Scissors style warfare, Battlefront has announced three new ranges coming in late 2025, all focused on the early war.
The early campaigns of WW2 were made famous by the German Blitzkrieg (Lightning War). Many of the German generals were veterans of WW1 and had learned a lot from the advent of tanks towards the end of that war. Blitzkrieg tactics focused on speed and maneuverability, with infantry and support weapons working in tandem with the small, agile tanks of the early war period. In short, it is a wargamer’s dream. Let’s take a look at some of the minis that have been showcased for this setting.
Pretty great stuff! On top of this, Battlefront has shown off a bit of a roadmap for this period over the next several years:
It looks like there is a lot of fun stuff in the works! What do you think? Are you excited to wargame the early war in 15mm? Sound off in the comments!
