The Deathwatch are back in force this festive season, and the updated Black Spear Task Force Index is here to rekindle the xenos-purging spirit! It’s great to see a fan-favorite returning, especially with the much-needed updates for the current edition.
What’s New for the Deathwatch?
- Mission Tactics Detachment Rule:
Adaptability is key for Deathwatch, and this rule ensures they stay true to their theme of countering any foe. Whether it’s mowing down hordes, tackling massive war machines, or eliminating high-value targets, they’ve got a tool for every job. - Revamped Kill Teams:
The reworked Kill Teams sound amazing:- Fortis Kill Team: Tacticus armor specialists combining close support and firepower.
- Indomitor Kill Team: Gravis-armored heavy hitters bringing durability and firepower.
- Spectrus Kill Team: Phobos-wearing stealth experts designed for battlefield control and psychological warfare.
- Talonstrike Kill Team: Brand new! Jump Pack-equipped Deathwatch for rapid, devastating assaults.
- Classic Stratagems Return:
Site-to-site Teleportation ensures unmatched mobility, and specialist ammunition has been made more accessible, a hallmark of Deathwatch playstyle.
The Best Team for the Job
It’s fascinating to see how the new armor-based focus of Kill Teams allows for more specialization. I love the idea of a Talonstrike Kill Team swooping in to deal devastating strikes while Spectrus Kill Teams destabilize key targets behind enemy lines. This update feels like it’ll breathe new life into Deathwatch lists both in casual play and tournaments.
What do you think about the changes? Will you be dusting off your Deathwatch or trying out the new Talonstrike Kill Team?
