Hey Reece! Hope you are well. I just submitted to your job post. I am very confident I can elevate any project we collaborate on!
I am a commercial art director and designer with 15 years of experience in creating 2D assets using Photoshop and Illustrator, paired with a strong proficiency in Google Suite tools. My background includes producing high-quality visuals while adhering to creative direction, following established processes, and meeting tight deadlines. I thrive in collaborative environments where feedback fuels growth, ensuring projects align with brand goals and exceed expectations.
As a passionate Warhammer 40,000 enthusiast and a regular attendee of FLG events like the Las Vegas Open since 2017, I have firsthand experience with the tabletop gaming community and culture. This deep connection informs my creativity, allowing me to craft assets that resonate with the audience. My dedication to the hobby and familiarity with FLG’s mission make me excited about the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the team.
In addition to my design skills, I bring a can-do attitude, an openness to creative criticism, and a commitment to clear communication, making me a well-rounded and dependable team player. My experience, combined with my love for gaming, ensures I can deliver impactful work that supports FLG’s vision.
He almost didn’t apply for this job. It’s the OCD. Everything had to be perfect. This job used the term ‘graphic designer’ and ‘graphic artist’ interchangeably. That’s a mistake a big studio wouldn’t make so perhaps this wasn’t, unless it was, quietly, in disguise. Curious, he looked again and then did apply. He wasn’t an artist. Well, he wasn’t a good artist but he could make Indesign sing, and it’s not programed to do that. Perhaps his was a job for him. Perhaps.
But should the traitor apply? Decades spent playing the game on the other side of the fence. The happy war game where you drive around big stompy ‘Mechs. Years spent trying to be a writer for them. Could he walk away from all that? Would they take a traitor? Maybe. He’d never seen a universe so dark and… …grim. Maybe he would fit right in?
What was this grim dark? No really. Everyone has an answer but none of them peirced the heart of it. He asked and asked and looked. Doctor Who gave up the answer. Some speach from Davrois about the purity of the evil of the Dialeks. That’s what Warhammer was. It was pure. It wasn’t evil. I mean, it was, but that wasn’t it’s purity. It’s war. It’s right there in the name. Everything about the universe is set to justify carnage and constant conflict. No rule unbroken. No weapon unused. No honor left intact and not set aside time and again to win a battle. Because losing is so horrible that it justifies anything done to earn five more minutes of life or the sweet mercy of death because there are so many things worse than death waiting.
He always wanted to fix Warhammer. That’s why he couldn’t write it before. Finally, he realized, it was already perfect and didn’t need fixing. It was the purest form of war in literature. Star Wars is about hope but has war. Lord of the Rings is about saving the world, but has war. Battletech is about seeking peace, but it has war.
