And Old Dwarfen Hero Returns!

Burlok Damminson stands out in the world of Dwarf Engineers—a young prodigy brimming with inventive ideas that challenge the traditionalist constraints of the Engineering Guild. While many apprentices have their experimental spirits tempered by rituals designed to steer them toward tried-and-true methods, Burlok’s father, a respected engineer himself, shielded him from these discouragements. Though this protection didn’t quash Burlok’s curiosity, it did help him channel it in a more practical way, leading him to secretly pursue groundbreaking creations.

Burlok’s talents shine brightly in Zhufbar, where he and other masterful inventors crafted some of the most advanced devices in Dwarfen engineering. Despite mixed feelings from Guild masters, who saw him as both an asset and a challenge to tradition, Burlok earned respect for his engineering prowess. His inventions have become essential on the battlefield, where he tests his creations himself, wielding his furnace hammer and rivet gun with lethal skill.

One of Burlok’s unique contributions is his Range Finding Optics, a curious array of glass lenses that would seem like simple trinkets to an untrained eye. In Burlok’s hands, though, they are crucial tools for enhancing the precision of Dwarfen war machines and ranged units, elevating their accuracy to unparalleled levels.

Historically, Burlok has appeared before in Warhammer lore—though much older, and missing an arm by the time of Karl Franz’s rule, likely due to a misadventure with his own rivet gun. His original miniature dates back to 1993, when he made his first debut in Warhammer Fantasy Battles during its fourth edition. This time, his miniature will be cast in Forge World resin, ready for pre-order early next year, and his full rules can already be found in Arcane Journal: Dwarfen Mountain Holds.

For Dwarfen commanders and enthusiasts, Burlok Damminson’s youthful return will bring both nostalgia and a fresh look at an inventive character who embodies the spirit of progress in the Dwarfen holds.
