Organized Play in the New Edition of Underworlds!

The latest edition of Warhammer Underworlds brings with it revamped rules, a fresh deck design, and four exciting new playstyles, making it a perfect time to dive into the game. With a robust roadmap of releases and support for Organised Play, players have plenty of ways to engage, from casual games with friends to top-level tournament competition.

Organised Play

Organised Play is a structured way to participate in Warhammer Underworlds, catering to a variety of players. Whether you’re part of a competitive tournament like the World Championships of Warhammer or just looking to crown a champion among friends at your local club, Organised Play has options for everyone. Participants can play using the Rivals format with preconstructed decks or the Nemesis format with custom-built decks, but the core aspect of Organised Play is that the warbands and decks are restricted to maintain a level playing field and competitive balance.

Warbands in Rotation

At the launch of the new edition, 33 warbands will be available for Organised Play. These will include:

While all other older warbands will have free downloadable rules for the new edition, only these 33 will be usable in Organised Play at launch. As more warbands are rereleased or new ones introduced, they will be added to the rotation.

Rivals Decks

For Organised Play, only decks that are currently available for purchase will be allowed in rotation. At the start of the edition, there will be six Rivals decks: four from the Embergard set and two more arriving shortly after launch. This ensures that players have equal access to the deck options available in competition.

Formats and Support

There will be specific rules for Organised Play that cover both Rivals and Nemesis formats, providing a consistent set of guidelines for tournament play. A Tournament Companion document will also be available to help organisers run smooth and successful events.

In addition to these formats, the Warhammer Design Team is working on new ways to play, including a revised multiplayer format that will bring some fresh changes to the current system. Multiplayer fans can expect more news soon!

Next week, more exciting details about the next two warbands in the new edition will be revealed, as the first feature token on the roadmap flips. With so much happening in Warhammer Underworlds, there’s never been a better time to jump in.
