As the holiday season approaches, Warhammer 40,000 is bringing five epic battleforce boxes for 2024, perfect for starting a new army, boosting an existing force, or expanding on a Combat Patrol. Here’s a look at these exciting new releases:
Penitent Crusader Host (Adepta Sororitas)
The Adepta Sororitas use sheer numbers of expendable troops and shock units to overwhelm enemies. This battleforce is built around that strategy with masses of infantry supported by mechanical behemoths. A Ministorum Priest leads the charge with 10 Sisters Repentia and 10 Arco-flagellants, bolstered by two Rhinos for battlefield mobility. Two Penitent Engines—which can be built as Mortifiers—provide heavy firepower to tear down enemy monsters.
Hypercrypt Legion (Necrons)
Led by the terrifying C’tan Shard of the Void Dragon, the Hypercrypt Legion emerges from the Necron tombs with an eldritch army. This battleforce features a Necron Lord with a Translocation Shroud, 10 Lychguard (or Triarch Praetorians), and 10 Necron Warriors. It’s a powerful infantry-focused force perfect for being bolstered by vehicles like the Night Scythe, Annihilation Barge, or the formidable Monolith.
Retaliation Cadre (T’au Empire)
The Retaliation Cadre brings devastating T’au battlesuits to the forefront. A T’au Empire Commander can be equipped with either a Coldstar or Enforcer battlesuit, leading a powerful force of a Broadside battlesuit, a stealthy Ghostkeel battlesuit, and the massive Riptide battlesuit. This battleforce focuses on firepower and mobility, ready to dominate any battlefield.
Inner Circle Task Force (Dark Angels)
With Lion El’Jonson back, the Inner Circle Task Force is a powerful strike force for the Dark Angels. Featuring Lion El’Jonson himself, a Chaplain in Terminator Armour, six Inner Circle Companions, and 10 Deathwing Knights (which can be equipped with swords or maces), this set is the ultimate start for a close-combat-focused Dark Angels army.
Valourstrike Lance (Imperial Knights)
Imperial Knights tower above their foes, and the Valourstrike Lance brings a powerful Questoris Knight (which can be built as one of six variants, including the Knight Paladin or Knight Gallant, or even the special character Canis Rex) supported by four Armigers. These Armigers can be constructed as either Armiger Helverins or Armiger Warglaives, creating a balanced and destructive force.
