Hot on the heels of their Feudal Japanese sets, Wargames Atlantic has announced a crossover between their Epic Battle Scale and Classic Fantasy ranges. Let’s take a look!
Wargames Atlantic has climbed on the Epic Scale bandwagon recently with their latest release of Feudal Samurai and Ashigaru. But as if that wasn’t enough, they have given us glimpses of two other projects that are in the works. The first is a tiny (pun intended) look at some Hundred Years War Foot Knights and Bowmen, and the second is a larger look at a range of 10mm Orcs! Here they are in all their glory:
WA has stressed that these minis are still a work in progress. One can only hope that the tiny quiver and shields will eventually find their way onto the models, rather than coming separate. The halberds might be a bit cartoonishly large, as well, but these are fairy tale creatures, after all. There is a strong Angus McBride character to a lot of these minis, giving them a pseudo-eastern feel as well. While they are likely not intended for use with the Feudal Japanese minis, they likely would not look out of place on a table with them. Here is a look at the Samurai box content for reference:
Who says Empire and Orcs have to be Western, after all? But you know what is definitively wester: the Hundred Years War between England and France! Details are scant about this range, but based on the image below and the precedent set by the other sets and minis, we can likely expect infantry in strips of various sizes, included individual minis, as well as individual cavalry minis.
This is likely to be another period that can be encapsulated by two or three boxes, at most, of various infantry and cavalry that is more or less interchangeable between sides. Still, it’s good to see Wargames Atlantic taking the 10mm ball and running with it! How do you feel about these ranges? Will you be picking any of them up? Let us know in the comments!
