The Dwarfen Mountain Holds are stirring as the first wave of troops prepares for pre-orders opening on Saturday. After delving into their gameplay and rich lore earlier this week, we now turn our focus to the stunning new miniatures – alongside some cherished classics making a return.
Dwarf Lords with Shield Bearers
The new Lord in plastic, hailed as one of the most exquisite models in years, leads the lineup. This versatile kit features two multipart, multi-option Dwarf Lords: one on foot and the other elevated by three muscular Shieldbearers. With interchangeable heads and weapons, either Lord can stand atop the shield, granting an impressive +3 Wounds, ensuring they remain an immovable force on the battlefield.
Dwarf Thane with Handgun
The resin Thane on an Oathstone, wielding a formidable handgun, joins the ranks. This Thane bolsters a unit of Thunderers, making them immune to Panic with his Oathstone. The Engineer’s Runes in the Arcane Journal allow players to enhance his gun with the Master Rune of Slaying or the Master Rune of Bursting Flame, transforming him into a sniper capable of taking down monsters or infantry with ease.
Ungrim Ironfist, the Slayer King of Karak Kadrin
A new incarnation of Ungrim Ironfist, the renowned Slayer King of Karak Kadrin, emerges. This younger, more dynamic version captures the essence of a proud and brash leader, shirtless and ready for battle. Ungrim’s King of the Slayer Hold ability provides unique army composition options themed around Slayers and Doomseekers. With a Weapon Skill of 9 and wielding the Axe of Dargo, he delivers four Magical Attacks each round at Strength 6 with an AP of -3, making him a formidable presence on the battlefield.
Prince Ulther’s Dragon Company
Prince Ulther and his Dragon Company, originally sculpted in 1985, return as the most venerable Made to Order in Warhammer history. These classic miniatures can be used as Imperial Dwarf Mercenaries in Warhammer: The Old World, with specific rules for using them as a Regiment of Renown. Ulther, an outcast striving to regain his kin’s honor, leads his Dragon Company with pride.
The Goblin-Hewer
The Goblin-Hewer makes a comeback, though without Malakai Makaisson, who hasn’t been born yet. Delving into the lore, it turns out Malakai may not have been the original inventor of many contraptions attributed to him. The Goblin-Hewer, among other devices, existed before his time and had fallen out of use until he rediscovered the blueprints. This axe-tossing engine is a fascinating piece of Dwarfen engineering history.
