New Medieval/Fantasy Helmets from Victrix

To supplement their recently released 12th-13th century Knights plastics, Victrix Limited recently revealed a set of Medieval and Fantasy helmeted heads and bits to spruce them up. Let’s take a look!

Victrix’s Medieval Knights kit is perfect for depicting mounted knights from the mid-12th to early 13th Centuries. At $44 for 18 knights they are a steal, compared to GW’s Bretonnian Knights of the Realm, which are $65 for 12 knights (though much more reasonably priced in our webstore!). But perhaps this is an unfair comparison, since Victrix’s kit is strictly historical… until now!

The newly teased bits sprue from Victrix gives a ton of options to add a-historical flair to their medieval knights, and potentially many other kits, such as Wargames Atlantic’s Foot Knights. Each sprue contains a whopping 31 helmeted heads, most of which are based off 13th Century Great Helms, such as were worn by Teutonic Knights of the period. Most of them are adorned with antlers, horns, wings, or serpents, but these can also be removed to give a historical option. Ten of the helmets have wings on the side and a star on the forehead that, in Victrix’s words, could serve as “well known Swan knights from a very popular novel!” There are also nine large shields, perfect for fantastical heraldry, and six cloaks, trimmed with animal fur and tied around the neck.

Victrix says the sprue is already in the tooling process and should be released in mere weeks. What do you think? Will you be supplementing your Knights of the Realm with some Victrix medievals? Sound off in the comments!
