Welcome, fellow Warhammer 40K enthusiasts! Today, we’re diving deep into the strategic intricacies of the new T’au Empire Crusade rules. In this blog post, we will provide a comprehensive summary and analysis of the new Agendas and Requisitions, highlighting how they enhance the thematic essence of the T’au.
Agendas
Agendas are specific objectives that T’au commanders can pursue during their Crusades, providing opportunities to earn additional points and experience.
Secret Meeting
- Secret Meeting: Choose an ETHEREAL model to engage in covert diplomacy. By positioning at the battlefield’s center without engaging in combat, the model gains 3XP and your Crusade force earns Diplomat points, reflecting the T’au’s secret negotiations.
- Protect the Leadership: Place two Dignitary markers on the battlefield, which act as high-value targets. Protecting these markers earns Diplomat points and allows an additional unit to be Marked for Greatness, emphasizing the T’au’s strategic and protective nature.
- Hit Their Supply Lines: T’au INFANTRY units disrupt enemy supply lines instead of engaging in direct combat. Successfully damaging supply markers rewards Military points, showcasing the T’au’s tactical approach to weakening the enemy through logistical disruption.
- Outflank and Encircle: Outmaneuver the enemy by having more units in their deployment zone. This rewards your units with XP, especially KROOT units, reflecting the T’au’s preference for strategic positioning over direct confrontation.
- Teachings of War: Choose between Aggressive or Patient Tactical Philosophy, rewarding units with XP for destroying enemy units in the first or fifth battle round, respectively. This highlights the T’au’s strategic flexibility and adherence to their combat doctrines.
Requisitions
Requisitions allow players to spend points on strategic advantages and upgrades, providing a way to enhance their forces and better align with the T’au’s unique capabilities.
- Show of Force (1RP)
- After a victory, convert Military points to Diplomat points, demonstrating the T’au’s ability to leverage military success for diplomatic gains.
- Totemic Infusions (1RP)
- If a KROOT SHAPER kills the enemy Warlord in melee, they gain a Battle Honour based on the enemy’s keyword, enhancing the Kroot’s combat capabilities and reflecting their ritualistic practices.
- The Hero’s Mantle (2RP)
- Replace a CRISIS or BROADSIDE unit with a new battlesuit unit, maintaining its XP and other attributes, showcasing the T’au’s modular technology and adaptability.
- Prototype System (1RP)
- Grant a newly added BATTLESUIT unit 6XP and a Battle Trait, emphasizing the T’au’s innovation and the importance of field-testing new technologies.
Summary
Sadly, GW has continued the copy-paste method through this section. The rules are pretty much identical to the 9th Ed rules for good or ill. Next time we will check out the Battle Traits and Relics!
