The gears are turning, and the battlefields of the Age of Darkness are about to be swarmed by the forces of the Cult Mechanicum with their first range of plastic miniatures for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. Fans of the Mechanicum have been waiting for this, and it’s finally here—the new Mechanicum Battle Group box!
What’s in the Box?
Thallax Cohort: Leading the charge, we have a squad of six Thallax warriors. These cyborgs are armed with lightning guns and a variety of special weapons. They’re fast, thanks to their Inculabulan jet packs, and while they look like robots, they’re actually cyborgs with human organs and nervous systems encased in their armor bodies, known as Lorica Thallax. The transformation strips away their pain and emotions but leaves them with some independent thought, making them fearsome in battle.
Adsecularis Tech-thralls: Next up, a horde of 20 Adsecularis Tech-thralls. These once-humans are augmented and used as expendable troops. They might lack advanced equipment, but they make up for it with sheer numbers and relentless determination. These guys can overwhelm superior troops through sheer persistence.
Triaros Armoured Conveyor: Transporting your troops is the Triaros Armoured Conveyor. This beast can carry up to 22 models, including the bulky Thallax. It’s heavily armored at the front, can smash into targets, and comes with mounted volkite and bolt weapons. Plus, it’s equipped with a flare shield to keep your cargo safe.
Castellax Battle-automata: Bringing the heavy firepower are two Castellax Battle-automata. These hulking robots are versatile, with options for power blades, shock chargers, bolters, flamers, and a range of shoulder-mounted weapons like bolt cannons, multi-meltas, and darklight cannons. They’re perfect for front-line assaults and shock attacks.
Extra Goodies
The box also includes two new Mechanicum Constructs transfer sheets and a new Macro Construct sheet with extra-large transfers for your vehicles, ensuring your units look as menacing as they fight.
More Plastic Goodness Coming Soon
Shortly after the Battle Group’s release, two more units will debut in plastic:
- Thanatar-Cavas Siege-automata: This massive automaton stands twice the height of a Castellax and is equipped with a giant plasma mortar, perfect for lobbing destructive energy over fortifications.
- Archmagos Prime: For those who need a genius leader, the Archmagos Prime is here. Armed with a conversion beamer, volkite serpenta, and corposant stave, this leader can obliterate any threats in their path.
Summary
As a Warhammer enthusiast, this is a monumental release! The switch to plastic makes these units more accessible and easier to build and customize. The Thallax are going to be a blast with their jet packs and lightning guns, while the Tech-thralls provide that classic Mechanicum swarm tactic. The Triaros gives you reliable transportation for your units, and the Castellax brings the heavy-duty firepower we all love.
This new release is a game-changer for anyone looking to dive into the Horus Heresy with the Cult Mechanicum. Whether you’re a veteran player or new to the faction, these new models will add a ton of flavor and power to your army. Can’t wait to see these on the battlefield!
