Alright Warhammer fans, buckle up! The new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar is dropping with a jaw-dropping launch box packed with the relentless Skaven. We’ve seen a few of these creepy critters already, but there are some heavy hitters you need to know about. Let’s dive into the verminous details!
Clawlord on Gnaw-beast
First up, the Clawlord on Gnaw-beast. These guys are the big cheese of the Clans Verminus, leading Skaven armies with a mix of brute force and cunning schemes. The Clawlords earn their rank through sheer violence and savvy plotting, and the lucky (or ruthless) ones ride into battle on terrifying Gnaw-beasts. These mutated monstrosities are always hungry, making them a nightmare for any foes.
Grey Seer
Next, we’ve got the Grey Seers, the prophets of the Great Horned Rat and masterminds of Skaven society. These magical rats manipulate from the shadows, casting warp lightning and scheming endlessly. They’re the only Skaven who can naturally wield magic, making them both feared and begrudgingly respected among their kin.
Rat Ogors
The Rat Ogors are brutal creations of the Clans Moulder, blending rodent and ogor bodies through dark sorcery and warpstone. These hulking beasts are pumped full of toxic serums, making them mindlessly violent and incredibly dangerous. They rip enemies apart with brute strength and torch them with their warpfire guns.
Ratling Warpblaster
Remember the Ratling Warpblaster from the cinematic trailer? This rolling death machine is designed by Clans Skryre to obliterate hordes of infantry. It’s got a massive rotating cannon that spits out a staggering number of shots, turning enemies into mincemeat in no time.
Warlock Engineer
Warlock Engineers are the tech wizards of the Skaven. While Grey Seers handle magic, these guys deal with deadly gadgets and weapons. They maintain the Skaven’s arsenal and guide the aim of Warplock Jezzails and Ratling Warpblasters from the back lines, taking pot-shots with their warplock muskets.
Clanrats
Clanrats are the cannon fodder of the Skaven, thrown into battle in chaotic swarms. Armed with whatever rusty weapons they can scavenge, they’re utterly disposable. Despite their low life expectancy, they overwhelm foes with sheer numbers and occasional bursts of bravery (usually motivated by food or shiny objects).
Warplock Jezzails
Skaven love ranged combat because it’s safer, and the Warplock Jezzails are the pinnacle of this philosophy. These sniper teams fire warpstone shards at enemy leaders from afar. Their guns are so heavy they need two rats to operate, firing from behind protective pavise shields.
Though the Skaven bring numbers and tech to the table, they’re up against the godly might and resolve of the Stormcast Eternals. It’s going to be a wild ride to see who comes out on top. For more on the Stormcast Eternals and other Age of Sigmar news, head back to the reveal hub.
