The Mortal Realms are in chaos as the Skaven hordes, long absent from the forefront of the battles, unleash a catastrophic scheme centuries in the making. Dubbed the Vermindoom, this scheme wreaks havoc by bridging Blight City directly into the Realm of Fire and tearing open festering rifts across the Mortal Realms. Additionally, the Great Horned Rat strikes a deal with Archaon, ascending to a full member of the Chaos pantheon.
In response to the Skaven onslaught, the Stormcast Eternals of the Hallowed Knights chamber stand as the primary defense against the vermin tide. However, even they find themselves overwhelmed, necessitating the intervention of the Ruination Chamber, a group of battle-hardened veterans who have endured countless reforgings in the service of Sigmar.
Accompanying this narrative upheaval is a complete overhaul of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, building upon a decade of storytelling and introducing legions of new miniatures, rules, and game modes. The Core Rules have been restructured for the first time since the game’s inception, focusing on accessibility and modularity without sacrificing depth. Modular rules, refined command point systems, and tweaks to mechanics like the double turn ensure a rich and immersive gaming experience.
Every faction receives updated warscrolls and army rules, with free downloadable faction packs provided at launch. These packs include all the necessary rules for gameplay, including battle traits, subfactions, enhancements, spell lores, and warscrolls for every unit. Additionally, a new game mode called Spearhead offers a quick and balanced version of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, perfect for beginners and veterans alike.
As the new edition unfolds, players can expect a wealth of new miniatures and ongoing updates. Stay tuned for more information on the changes coming to Warhammer Age of Sigmar and join the Stormcast or Skaven newsletters for the latest updates from the Mortal Realms.
