New Tau Preview Looks….Controversial

The T’au Empire’s battlesuit technology stands as a pinnacle of their military might, ranging from the agile Stealth Battlesuits to the towering Riptide. Now, with the introduction of the Retaliation Cadre Detachment in Codex: T’au Empire, Fire caste pilots have even more ways to unleash the fury of their advanced combat armors on the battlefield.

The Retaliation Cadre embodies the audacity and daring of the Bonded Heroes, offering a high-stakes, close-range playstyle where battlesuits descend upon enemy units with devastating firepower. As battlesuits close in on their foes, their weapons gain additional Strength and Armor Penetration, turning them into formidable threats against both infantry and armored targets alike.

To complement this aggressive approach, strategic employment of Stratagems keeps battlesuits safe from harm while maximizing their effectiveness. Abilities like Shortened Blade enable battlesuits to make precision strikes from close range before retreating to safety with The Torchstar Gambit, ensuring they remain a potent force throughout the engagement.

Moreover, the Crisis Battlesuits have been re-imagined with distinct configurations tailored to different battlefield roles (better hope your existing suits are magnetized!). The Sunforge configuration excels at eliminating heavy targets with its fusion blasters, while Fireknife battlesuits are adept at engaging elite troops with plasma rifles and missile pods. Starscythe teams, on the other hand, specialize in dealing with massed hordes using burst cannons and flamers.

Each configuration receives unique abilities that enhance their effectiveness in their chosen roles. For example, the Sunforge ability grants re-rolls against ideal targets, mitigating the low rate of fire of fusion blasters and ensuring devastating results against heavily armored foes.

These new distinctions not only enhance battlesuit versatility but also offer tactical flexibility in army composition. With each configuration treated as a separate datasheet, commanders can field up to nine Crisis teams in their roster, maximizing their retaliatory capabilities as dictated by the Greater Good.

Additionally, Commanders can join these new units, retaining their flexible weapon options and providing valuable support to the entire unit. Abilities such as the Enforcer Commander’s reduction of incoming fire’s Armor Penetration and the Coldstar Commander’s ability to boost allies’ speed further enhance the effectiveness of battlesuit detachments.

Prepare to harness the might of the T’au Empire’s battlesuits as new rules and units, including the Kroot Hunting Pack and Codex: T’au Empire, become available for pre-order, offering fresh strategies and tactical options for commanders on the battlefield.
