Triumph and Treachery Rules Return in Age of Sigmar

Hey, fellow generals of the Mortal Realms, get ready for some epic tabletop chaos because Dawnbringers: Book IV – The Mad King Rises is up for pre-order this Saturday! This bad boy doesn’t just continue the saga of the Twin-Tailed Crusade; it brings the thunder with rules for a Vampire Lord Army of Renown, six Regiments of Renown for Death forces, and the third leg of the Twin-Tailed Crusade Path to Glory. But hold onto your warhammer, there’s more!

Triumph and Treachery is back, baby! It’s a multiplayer game mode for up to four players, and it’s basically a free-for-all where you can bribe, deal, and backstab your way to victory. Starting with 50 Command Points and no usual generation means, you’ll be spending these on command abilities, ploys, and maybe even bribing your buddies.

Deals are on the table at the start of each turn – ploys, command points, and victory points are up for grabs, but remember, they’re not set in stone. The game’s all about chaos, after all. With four forces on the field, you’ll be choosing enemies and turning others neutral, leading to tactical challenges and strategic mind games.

Ploys, my friends, are the name of the game. There are 26 of them, each with game-changing effects. From Aetheric Redirection messing with spells to Hidden Pitfalls tripping up cavalry, this mode is a rollercoaster of surprises. Ambushing Fire lets neutrals break the rules and shoot, and Favorable Winds can turn the tide in combat. Oh, and Hidden Agents make sure neutral players strike first in a unit of their choosing.

The Mad King Rises packs in four primary battleplans for Triumph and Treachery, plus a bonus fifth – Contest of the Mortarchs. Imagine squabbling Mortarchs, and one player takes on the role of Nagash, the big boss of Death. Mortarchs vie for his favor by sending groveling missives, attempting assassinations, and trying to outwit each other in a deadly dance of politics and betrayal.

And hey, if Grand Alliance Death isn’t your jam, no worries. You can adapt Triumph and Treachery to the chaos of Ruinous Powers, Orruk Warclans, or even rival Cities of Sigmar. The rules for all this tabletop madness? You guessed it – they’re all in Dawnbringers: Book IV – The Mad King Rises. So, assemble your crew, pre-order that book, and let the scheming, bribing, and backstabbing begin! It’s time for Triumph and Treachery like never before!
