Warhammer Day: Lord-Relictor Ionus Cryptborn Preview

Alright, fellow warriors of Sigmar, there’s more action in the Dawnbringers series, and it’s getting hotter! In Book III – The Long Hunt, the Twin-Tailed Crusade is on the move, but guess who decided to crash the party? The Goretide, those bloodthirsty champions of Khorne, have set up shop right in the Dawnbringers’ escape route. Talk about a rude welcome.

Now, our Sigmarite buddies are in a tight spot. To survive and keep chasing their destiny, they’re turning to an old friend who’s been MIA in the Mortal Realms for quite a while. Enter Ionus Cryptborn, the God-King’s prodigal son and first Lord-Relictor. He’s got a tragic backstory, searching fruitlessly for a cure to the Reforging flaw that has messed up his pals. His voice is all but gone, replaced by a sepulchral rasp. But Sigmar called him back for a mission, and he’s ready to rock.

Ionus has been doing some Realm-hopping and made a rather unique friend – Cthorak, a cryptic draconith with his own dark agenda. The dynamic duo, along with Ionus’s personal Stormdrake Guard, swoop down on the battlefield. Rumor has it they silently whisk away Stormcast who’ve had too many trips to the Reforging machine.

Our man Ionus has seen his fair share of battles (pictured as a Lord-Relictor on the right), and he’s got a special connection with Vandus Hammerhand (left), his closest pal. But this reunion in Dawnbringers – is it a friendly catch-up or a harbinger of doom? Time will tell.

Ionus Cryptborn takes to the skies with two fiery Stormdrake Guard in his personal ride, Cryptborn’s Stormwing, a set coming out alongside Dawnbringers: Book III – The Long Hunt.

But the big question is, what’s Ionus’s true mission, and who’s really behind that eerie skull mask? Share your theories with #WarhammerCommunity, and keep an eye on the Preview hub for more exciting reveals. The Mortal Realms are getting even more epic!
