Horus Heresy: Massive Free Expansion for the Chaos Daemons!

Hey there, fellow Warhammer enthusiasts! We’ve got a real treat for you in this edition of the Legacies of the Age of Darkness series – a brand-new army list for the Daemons of the Ruinstorm has been released!

With this release, GW announced they are nearing the end of the Age of Darkness articles, focusing on the mysterious and unique forces available to the Traitor armies. We’ve seen Bound Daemons, Corrupted Knights, and Daemon Engines, and there’s one more exciting reveal to come in the final article.

This army list paints a picture of the unknown entities that wreaked havoc on the Imperium during the Horus Heresy, especially during the intense Betrayal at Calth and the epic Siege of Terra. Now, here’s the kicker – Chaos as we know it from Warhammer 40,000 wasn’t as clear-cut back in the 31st Millennium. We’re talking about entities that are so alien and horrifying that we don’t even name the Chaos Gods or use familiar terms like ‘Bloodletter’ or ‘Daemonette’. It’s all about keeping these creatures mysterious and downright terrifying.

Sure, we had some classic Daemons in the mix, but there were also some seriously bizarre manifestations that defy classification. You can imagine these as the baseline types presented in each unit entry. This list pushes the boundaries of what the game can represent, so it’s best suited for narrative or chill games. If you want to bring it to a more competitive event, check with the organizer first.

Now, let’s talk about the juicy bits. This army list lets you go all-in with a full army of Ruinstorm Daemons. You even have an optional Lord of War Detachment with some intriguing options, like the Ruinstorm Arch-Daemon and unique characters such as Ka’bandha Unbound and Cor’Bax Utterblight Unbound. Picture this army as a chaotic, unfocused horde bursting forth from breaches in reality. It’s so wild that you can’t mix it with other Allied Detachments or units.

Bound Daemons and Daemon Engines have their separate rules, and you can still include them in your armies through Traitor Legion Esoterists – those individuals who love dabbling in forbidden stuff.

As a bonus, we’ve also spruced up some of the previously published rules, like the Ætheric Dominions, and applied them to Bound Daemons and Daemon Engines. So, make sure to snag those updated versions of the Exemplary Battles in the Age of Darkness documents.

And there you have it, folks! The Daemons of the Ruinstorm army list is ready for your download pleasure. Get those brushes and dice rolling for some epic battles in the Horus Heresy universe!
