Para Bellum Games, publisher of fantasy Mass Combat Miniature Wargame “Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings” and Skirmish ruleset “Conquest: First Blood,” has offered some deep insight into the Eidolon and Inquisitor releases of the City States faction.
With the perverse Inquisitors of the Scholae, led by the Eidolon Brute Character, City States Warlords now have the Left Hand of their Scholae in their arsenal of war! Terrifying, ruthless, efficient and relentless in their task, the Inquisitors are the dark will of the Scholae made manifest – as well as the very manifestation of the amoralistic hybris of their brilliance. Led by the Eidolon, these near-mindless brutes transform into a destructive kill squad, ready to wreak havoc upon any the Scholae have declared an enemy.
“The City States are instilled with an opposing duality, their coin always having two sides,” says Lead Writer of Para Bellum Games, Konstantinos Oikonomou. “There is the dream that forged them and the decline into reality. There is self-sacrifice and there is the fall before temptation. There is brilliance, yes, but there is also hybris. In many ways, few things make this more evident than the Eidolon and the Inquisitors.” While the enhancements of the armies serve as testament to the brilliance and superiority of the City States’ erudition, turning their conquering armies into beacons of ingenuity to be admired, the Inquisitors are the evidence of their unbridled genius when efficiency is the only purpose. Created from the bloated bodies of criminals and traitors and fueled by the elusive phlogiston, the Scholae forged the Inquisitors into brutal instruments of their will, with the singularity of their purpose as their only restrain. Fully knowing the self-destructive nature of mankind and recognizing it as humanity’s greatest threat, the Inquisitors are the Left, bladed hand that ensures that none surpasses the Scholae’s imposed threshold of advancement. Led by an Eidolon, those terrifying monstrosities are not simply held in check, but transformed into surgical instruments of death and destruction. Turning the mantle of disbelief surrounding their unlikely existence into the glove which hides them, the Eidolon and the Inquisitors are the old proverb made manifest: one should not let the Right hand know what the Left does.
