Hi all,
For those not in the loop, the World Team Championships were held in Europe this past week. After seven grueling rounds Poland claimed their fourth crown (the first since 2014) going undefeated with six wins and a tie. This is the premier world event and is always an exciting watch.
The USA team was competitive going into the final match but its two draws to England and Poland were decisive. As the only other undefeated team the US still has a lot to be proud of. A number of other teams were in the mix during that final round. England played against Poland with a chance of stealing the crown with a win but fell short. Previous years champs, Australia suffered a crushing loss to France in round four but still managed to claw their way back to third place.
It’s nice to see the global reach of the 40k game as there were teams from over 40 different countries, with players coming from as far away as New Zealand to compete. The US seems to dominate a lot of the 40k news when it comes to tournament play, but it’s always a good reminder that there are many stellar players across the globe!
