GW Previews the Plastic Knight Lancer

At Warhammer Fest, GW announced that the Cerastus Knight Lancer, currently a resin miniature from Forge World, will be joining the plastic Imperial Knights for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. This colossal war machine strides into battle on towering bipedal legs, complete with a fearsome shock lance and an ion gauntlet shield that exudes true knightly grandeur.

The mastermind behind this modernized behemoth is Daren, a talented sculptor from the Specialist Design Studio. He took on the challenge of converting the existing resin kit into a stunning plastic version, ensuring that the poseable features of the original were preserved. Daren, who had designed the original kit nearly a decade ago, found it thrilling to revisit the project with a fresh perspective and new possibilities.

The plastic Cerastus Knight Lancer offers an array of poseable features that will captivate both average hobbyists and seasoned veterans. Most joints retain their full range of motion, and the ankle pistons can slide in and out, allowing for diverse stances. For those who prefer a straightforward assembly, the legs have set positions, while the locator pegs can be removed for those who want to experiment with different poses.

The arms also provide multiple posing options, including the ability to slide the lance between fully retracted or extended positions. Daren recommends assembling the arm joints without glue initially, to explore various positions. Once the desired pose is achieved, carefully apply plastic glue to the joint to lock it in place securely.

The kit also includes a seated pilot for the interior, showcasing the lore of how the pilot’s helmet reflects the appearance of the Knight’s sensor head. Additionally, the package offers various banner options for the lance and between the legs, along with different shoulder pads, knee pads, greaves, and accessories for both Loyalist and Traitor themes.

The Cerastus Knight Lancer and its firepower-focused counterparts will be available for pre-order soon. Keep an eye on Warhammer Community to stay updated on the exact release date. And while you wait, why not indulge in the captivating tale of the first Imperial Knight’s gallant adventure?
