Legions Imperialis Preview: Terrain Kits

The anticipation for Legions Imperialis is reaching new heights, with its massive battles, grand scale, and incredibly detailed tiny models. But what’s a grand conflict without a suitable backdrop? You’ll need terrain that complements your epic scale Space Marines and Solar Auxilia. While Legions Imperialis can be played anywhere with enough space, the level of detail packed into these diminutive detachments deserves an equally impressive battlefield. Fortunately, there’s plenty of epic scale terrain coming your way – some returning from the Adeptus Titanicus range, and some entirely new.

Let’s start with the new Civitas Imperialis City Road Tiles. These finely detailed plastic tiles are fully sculpted and will transform any bare table into an immersive urban environment. The 12×12″ squares fit together neatly to create Legions Imperialis battlefields for any game size. Each pack contains two straight roads, two T-junctions, and two crossroads, providing various options for diverse road layouts. Combined with other urban terrain, you can build entire cities filled with deadly intersections, exposed highways, and literal dead-end turns.

Beyond their practical use in providing stable footing for larger miniatures, these sculpted plastic cityscapes create the perfect backdrop for the earth-shaking footfalls of your god-engines and the march of your mustered footsoldiers.

Next up are the new plastic Civitas Imperialis Ruins, impressively modular pieces that can be combined in countless ways to adorn your city with scattered rubble, wrecked buildings, or crumbling walls used as barricades. These ruins also serve as excellent basing details for your Titans.

To construct your city before it was shattered by Titan-scale munitions, you’ll need buildings, and the ultra-modular Civitas Imperialis terrain fits the bill perfectly. Re-released from Adeptus Titanicus, these gothic domiciles can be assembled in thousands of different configurations, allowing you to build anything from modest urban sprawl to towering structures. The terrain comes in two kits – structures and spires – giving you the freedom to customize the architecture to your liking.

As battles take place around more industrial areas, the rereleased Manufactorum Imperialis terrain comes into play. This kit includes pipes, storage tanks, machinery, and various hazardous extras to add depth and detail to your table. The legendary Munitorum Armoured Container also makes its appearance, retaining its allure even in miniaturization.

Like the civilian terrain, the industrial pieces are modular, allowing you to stack, divide, arrange, and combine them in countless ways for a truly unique battlefield.

With these terrain kits, you can craft a sprawling cityscape where epic armies battle for the fate of the galaxy. To kickstart your megalopolis megaproject, watch for the return of the Civitas Imperialis Administratum Sector – a big box containing four sets of Civitas Imperialis structures and one set of spires, allowing you to assemble the board of your dreams. Assuming your dreams involve enormous armies storming through ruined city streets, that is.

The release date for all this wonderful terrain will be announced soon, so keep an eye out for more updates from Legions Imperialis. It may be small in scale, but the excitement is anything but!
