Battletome: Cities of Sigmar is set to revolutionize Warhammer Age of Sigmar with a diverse array of new miniatures and units, accompanied by a host of updated Warscrolls. As this impressive muster arrives, it brings notable changes to the existing range. Join us as we delve into the key details you need to know about this exciting release.
New Miniatures and Replacements:
Prepare for an influx of new miniatures, including a General, infantry, cavalry, gunners, and even an ogor. Additional updates, including artillery units, are on the horizon. These fresh miniatures will replace many current models in a like-for-like fashion.
However, certain iconic units such as the Steam Tank, Celestial Hurricanum, and Imperial Griffon will continue to serve as part of the Cities of Sigmar forces.
Duardin and Aelves:
While the focus of the new battletome lies with mortal humans, duardin and aelves still have their place in the armies of the God-king. Aelves and duardin have received their own battletomes in recent years, and now it’s time for the humble humans to reclaim the spotlight and bring the “mortal” back into the Mortal Realms.
Cities of Sigmar generals will have ample options when constructing their forces. Whether you prefer the new mortal humans as the backbone of your army or desire a combined arms force of aelves, duardin, and humans, the choice is yours. Additionally, you can still field all-aelven or entirely duardin armies, although the selection may be more limited.
Furthermore, the battletome provides flexible and thematic rules for allies, allowing you to incorporate units from other battletomes. For instance, armies hailing from Tempest’s Eye can bolster their ranks with Kharadron Overlords, while the Living City can benefit from the forces of the Sylvaneth.
Units Leaving the Range:
As new models join the fray, certain units from the Warhammer Age of Sigmar range will make way for them. However, many of these units will return in due course as reinforcements for the High Elves, Wood Elves, and Empire in Warhammer: The Old World.
If you already possess these classic models in your existing Cities of Sigmar collection, there’s no need to worry. In most cases, there are similar analogues in the battletome. For example, you can use your Wildwood Rangers as Executioners. It’s essential to ensure clear communication with your opponent regarding the units’ representations if you use older models not included in the battletome.
