Breaking – Warhammer 40k 10th Ed FAQ: Fixes to Fate Dice, Towering and Desolation Squads

Since the launch of the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, battles have raged on with unyielding intensity, captivating tens of thousands of players who are thoroughly enjoying the revamped rules. However, as with any game, a few abilities and points costs have emerged that require a subtle tweak to ensure a healthy and balanced gameplay experience. That’s why today, we bring you an update that addresses these areas, aiming to enhance the overall game balance.

Let’s delve into the key adjustments. First up, the Aeldari Strands of Fate army ability undergoes a change to curtail its early-game dominance, preventing the excessive use of Fate dice to overpower a single devastating attack. With the update, players will be limited to using this ability just once per phase. This alteration urges Aeldari players to strategize and carefully consider the optimal timing for their prognostications. Nonetheless, units like Farseers, who possess the ability to manipulate dice, will continue to be highly valuable assets on the battlefield.

Bid farewell to the temptation of funneling all 12 Fate dice into an initial cataclysmic assault. Instead, you’ll now strategically allocate your resources throughout the game. For those seeking the updated index, you can conveniently download it here. Additionally, if you obtained a pack of the physical Aeldari Index Cards, rest assured that the errata document has also been updated to reflect the new rules.

Early battles have revealed that the sheer presence of colossal war machines, looming over terrain and decimating vulnerable units, can be exceedingly potent. This holds particularly true for armies fielding towering units like Imperial and Chaos Knights, armed with devastating weaponry. Furthermore, the Indirect Fire ability, employed by units like the Desolation Squad, has proven to be a challenge for many opposing armies to counter.

To rectify these situations, adjustments have been made to the points costs of these formidable units, aligning them more accurately with their performance on the battlefield. In addition, Death Guard Plague Marines can rejoice as they are once again eligible to be taken in squads of seven, sparing you from leaving two unfortunate models on the sidelines.

To familiarize yourself with all the changes, simply download the updated Munitorum Field Manual here. The modified sections are highlighted in red, providing a clear distinction between what has been altered and what remains the same.

Looking ahead, the next round of balance adjustments is slated to arrive in the autumn quarterly update later this year. Additionally, an additional errata is scheduled for the end of July, aimed at addressing remaining discrepancies in the Indexes. It’s important to note that this update won’t include balance changes. Rest assured, the Warhammer Design Studio remains vigilant in monitoring the game to swiftly address any particularly disruptive rules interactions that may emerge.

But the excitement doesn’t end there! There’s still time to participate in the Battle for Oghram, where the outcome hangs in the balance. By posting your results, you contribute to either the Space Marines or the Tyranids, with the winning faction earning an early reveal of their upcoming units on July 15th. Moreover, participants will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win every new miniature for their chosen faction.

To join the battle for Oghram, you’ll need one of the special codes found inside the Leviathan boxed set. Some boxes may still be available at your local Warhammer store, so hurry and secure your copy to influence the fate of Oghram!

Rest assured that the Warhammer Design Studio remains dedicated to ensuring a captivating and balanced gaming experience for all. Stay tuned for future updates and enjoy your time in the new edition of Warhammer 40,000!
