The Hero of Bright Tree, the Ewok they call Wicket. Atomic Mass Games have posted his stats, abilities and command cards. Let’s take a closer look.
We have had sneak peeks of Ewok stats, but this is our first in depth look at one of their commanders, Wicket, the first Ewok we meet (er, Leia meets) in Return of the Jedi. We know his kinsfolk to be squishy, squirrely, and moderately dangerous. So how does he stack up?
Well, first of all, he is not at all bad with that spear of his. Wicket won’t be taking down any Sith lords, but his two red and one black dice with Pierce 1 are nothing to shake a stick at. He has one black die with his sling, which has Pierce 1 and the new keyword Primitive, which converts crits to hits against armored units, and Sharpshooter 2.
Wicket is also quite squirrely. Low Profile, Nimble and Unhindered will help him navigate the battlefield quickly and effectively, and his Scouting Party 2 ability let’s him bring his friends with him. When he uses his Scout ability he can issue a move order to up to two friendly Bright Tree units, letting them make a move at speed equal to the level of his scout ability. Speaking of, Wicket can also take the Forest Dwellers upgrade card, which increases this by 1.
But what about command cards? Wicket has some good buffs for units under his command. Sneaky Scouting lets him put observation tokens on enemies within range 2. Friendly units that attack enemies with observation tokens that turn can spend it to convert surges to hits. If the Ewoks have taken some hits and need to punch back, Courageous Counterattack gives them white dice equal to the number of wound tokens or defeated miniatures they have suffered and turns their courage to null for the turn. Close Call let’s Wicket escape dangerous situations by giving him a Dodge token, increases his movement to 3 and gives him Outmaneuver for the turn.
Lastly, both Wicket and Leia get access to A Beautiful Friendship which allows them to issue orders to one another’s units at close range and gives them both Teamwork.
So what do you think of Wicket’s new abilities and command cards? Not bad for a pissed off, survivalist, Care Bear!
